This was being sold for 0.17 euro for new users in their slash game.
Full price was 9.16 euro, still very cheap for so many leds, a 18650, solar panel + light sensor!
you could measure battery voltage after charging. whether it terminates at 4.20V will tell whether it’s dangerous.
it won’t be very bright but it might be ok, especially if it only turns on when it’s dark and something moves (pir).
The solar panel won’t give much current unless in direct sun but that’s bad for the battery.
My parents have the exact same light, it was sold across the entire world. Some are with motion sensors, some without (some have a different switch as well).
The lights failed for a variety of reasons, one was moisture ingress, another was failure of the main PCB. The light emitters were alright until the end, and I harvested a few of the batteries last year.
you could coat the charging/control PCB with transparent nail polish. it’s basically acrylic paint and will somewhat protect the electronics from moisture.
I’d leave the leds and solar panels as they are.
bigclive demonstrated that it’s better to have a small hole at the bottom of the enclosure because outdoors, water will eventually find its way in no matter how good the seal is, and that way it can find its way out again / evaporate.
It’s actually pretty bright.
Specs says 700-800 lumen and I think it’s very close to that.
When there is no motion you can set it to low brightness and if you have about 10 of these you can light the yard with them on low brightness
