I just had an idea. I've noticed that Alibaba.com has an incredible selection of unique flashlights. I imagine this is one of the suppliers of our favorite retailers. But the problem is that Alibaba is usually not very convenient for private buyers who only want to buy 1 or 2 pieces with free shipping. But I suspect that Manafont or some other retailer would probably be happy to receive some product suggestions from us, and they could probably offer some of these lights. So... why don't we all look through through Alibaba and see if we can find any interesting lights.
Could be a source of the Akoray K-106 3-mode, especially now that the KD source might have dried up. Is this a new design? I can't tell from the picture if that is a wire-loop clip or a new solid clip design? Notice that there is also a 14500-only version. Also some K-106 programmables without the kit: here and here.
I've been looking for these 1xAA EDI-T lights. The minimum order quantity is awfully high, but it might be negotiable. I also like these similar designs from EDI-T herehere and here.
Farka E09 / F6 V2: Now this one is a truly beautiful design. The minimum order quantity is very reasonable. They seem to confuse the model name in the different listings, but the picture is the same here and here. And it looks like they have offer optional modes: "Press the switch of tail .The first time supportability strong-light,second infirm-light,third flashlight,and cut off". :) And what about this mode operation description? Looks interesting...
This brand is apparently from the makers of the Xeno Cube, which btw they offer on Alibaba for a significantly betterprice.
Wonder what our retailers would sell the Cube for. Anything under $60 would be good. Under $50 and I'm on it immediately. There seems to be room to drop the prices by quite a bit on a lot of lights if enough people want them.
The Farkas that I've heard about have all had very good reviews.
Google has always seemed to find Albania in most of my searches for new lights. Its to bad their orders have consolidated minimums from one distributor. I wonder if we could work a deal with one of them. I inquired for a price quote for a qty of 1 CUBE bright LED torch, XENO CUBE V5. I know it shows a minimum order qty of 50, but I have done this with a few of Albania's other suppliers in the past and they emailed me quotes for a qty of 1. I will report my findings. If that doesnt fly, perhaps Mr. Zheng Liu would consider offering discount codes or other rates for us if we can generate enough interest. Although this is not a budget light, it certainly reeks of quality and attention to detail. Just check out the details. Its also very unique.
The power here has gone out twice in 20 years - both in daytime. One sunday everything turned off, just as I was reindexing a large database. Backups are good things!
The power came back on 5 minutes later.
A year or two ago, someone got careless with a backhoe and blacked the city out for 20 minutes. Only reason I even noticed was the tills stopped working in the supermarket I was in.
