What new flashlight did you get that you didn't need... just for fun?

I already have a Lumintop BLF FW3A that I enjoy a great deal. I really didn’t need another one, especially after getting its little brother the FWAA in copper. But I couldn’t help myself. The LM10 grew on me (I didn’t like it at first). The core is great. The body is a bit different. And there’s trit slots that I hope to fill once tritium vials come back down to more sensible prices. I was itching to get a BLF LT1, Emisar DT8, or a Convoy L21B… but this discount deal was too good to pass up. 23% off. Yeah, it’s a bling light, but I think it won’t be too difficult to unload down the road if I decide I don’t like it.

So what’s your latest flashlight indulgence, something you didn’t need but just had to have?

1. I originally bought a Brass D4V2 because I thought it would look cool. It did. The e21a emitters in 2700k look great in general and pair well with brass.

2. But now I wanted ultimate power; I wanted to start fires. So I ordered a black one in aluminum with XPL-HI 5000k emitters.

3. By the time the second light came, I realized that I was in love with the e21a 2700k emitter and that I needed a lighter version for EDC (I wouldn’t personally EDC the brass)

4. While ordering the aluminum 2700k light for EDC, I became enamored with the aesthetics of the titanium version because with the silver body and white backlit button, it would “match” any auxilary light color I chose…so I have that coming too with 4500k e21a emitters.

Pls someone send help

Brainless buying stage is long gone for me.
I buy stuff I need and use.
I wish the same for you.

Noctigon KR1. Beautiful and useless. To make it more interesting, I gave it a ww hcri xp-l. But maybe, one fine day there will be a NW SFT40 to make it useful for me.

Well, it’s not 100% brainless for me… I try to limit the cost & also pick something I see reselling in the future without taking too much of a hit on it.

Why is a thrower useless? Do you live in a giant city? I love my taking my throwers on walks. Speaking of useless, I have been trying and failing to come up with a potential use for the K9.3. Don’t have one yet, but it is just beautiful.

Those Noctigons are great hosts… I don’t know a lot about the modding prospects, but if it’s not too difficult to upgrade emitters then something like a KR1 could stay relevant for many years to come.

In the end i could make do with two flashlights, a Convoy M1 and Olight i3e (keychain).

The rest are technically not needed, Convoy M3C (lumen monster) P30 (thrower), Olight S20 (convenient pocketable and back magnet), Wurkkos WK30 (UV), Xtar RC2 (lantern/flashlight hybrid) and so forth.

I did buy two extra Xtar RC2s before they were discontinued and they float around as they are my most used light and it works better to have extra making one easier to find on demand.

Easy answer. Astrolux WP3, when it finally ships.

There is nothing going on 3 Km away that I need to be aware of.

Just want to see that monster beam!

You can light up Niagara Falls at night!
Or perhaps the Grand Canyon, a good part of Mount Everest, and maybe even very low clouds!

Fenix TK30.

just like the old Dale Carnegie book…
How to Win Friends and Influence People
since it sure does grab their attention.

it has been awesome.
(but i really did not NEED it)

I bought a respectable zoomie some years back, even though I don't really like zoomies.

I figured, it'd be nice to have a decent zoomie, but I never use it so I don't need it.

Which one?

Thinking about this further i have a few lights in the car that i don’t actually need but are there if someday there was an emergency.

Including a makeshift backup, one of these, an LED bulb and a cigarette lighter inverter

Noctigon KR1vn sbt90.2 red and Mateminco MT90 sbt90.2 red :sunglasses:

I wanted a compact zoomie that'll fit in my pocket.

I got a ThorFire TA13 from AliExpress.

It's not all that impressive despite being the best zoomie that I own.

Interesting.
I am not a big fan of zoomies. They can be fun once in a while but in general they are not very useful.

I think we all need to buy one to get it out of our systems

Convoy 3X21A SFT40 :sunglasses:

Y'know what?

I said that my zoomie isn't all that impressive, but it's a good choice if you are looking for a compact zoomie.

If you want maximum throw, a much bigger zoomie is recommended.

“Need” you ask??

Sadly that would be all but 4 or 5 of them. :person_facepalming:
