Best emitters to avoid green tint at low levels

Hi,

Trying to build an S2+ that is really warm white (2700k – 3500k). I’m looking at using probably a 4x
7135 biscotti driver from Simon.

What I am after is an emitter that stays nice and warm and doesn’t go green tinted at low levels. My first thought was an Sst20 2700k, but I have read these tend to green at low levels. Reading round it looks like I may be best to go for something like an xpl hi in 7a. Any other options or recommendations be much appreciated. I would like high cri but am more concerned about a nice warm not green tint at low levels.

Thanks,
Mike

Is green really a problem at 2700k? I have used both SST-20 2700k and LH351D 2700k in the S2+. The SST-20 is a “cleaner orange” and has better R9 and CRI. The LH351D is more of a “dirty orange” with decent CRI and more lumens/watt. LH351D 2700k looks much better in night photography.

How about quad Nichia E17A LEDs in the 2700K, 3000K, or 3500K versions? They’re a little tricky to solder and you will need to frost the lens to get rid of the donut hole, but there is no hint of green at any level.

I’d rather use my flashlight around the house than turn on the lights.

The 2700k sst20 s2+ I got from Simon does not appear green at all even at 0.1%. I went with the 4×7135 and a slice of DC fix to make it very floody.

This space for let.

Thanks all. Quad E17 sounds tempting, I’m kind of looking for something simpler and cheaper if possible.(Being in NZ means parts from most places other than AliExpress means a crazy shipping fee.)

Perhaps down round 2700k any green won’t matter so much. I have a lh351d light at 4000k which I love at high levels but goes gross at low levels.

I might just try the Sst20, then swap it out if I don’t like it.
