Where did he get a triple 219B emitter?

He built it. All you need is spacer, triple mcpcb and triple optic. Also looks like glow ring and lighted tail switch.
I’m doing similar build right now, still waiting parts to arrive.

Presumably built the 5A driver for it too? Damn I need to learn this stuff. How hard is it to mount the stuff on the pcb? Can you do it with a regular soldering iron or do you need surface mount skills and equipment?

That is the stock Convoy SST40-driver I think.

Well for reflowing there is good guides here. You just need a soldering paste and kitchen stove if you want to keep it real simple. Also you could get piece of aluminum, drill a hole in it and stick soldering iron into it. DIY hotplate.

You can get a 5A driver from Simon (convoy), or from Led4power (if he’s shipping to the UK yet). As for the reflowing of the emitters, I do mine with a small kitchen blow torch. I hold the mcpcb with a soldering helping hands, then slowly heat it up from a distance underneath, bringing the flame closer until I see the solder liquify. I’ve done many reflows this way and haven’t had any go wrong yet, touch wood!

Any ideas where to buy the 219B chips from? I’m struggling to find them on aliex

Sorry, I can’t help, but maybe someone else can.

Also Convoy is releasing some similar kind of triple emitter light in very near future. If Simon has those 219b emitters when that happens, then you can buy the ready product without building it. I guess.

Also Kaidomain sells triple mcpcb’s with leds in them. They don’t have 219b’s, but some other good choices.

Nice I’ll just wait for the convoy product then, hopefully it’ll be available for the S2+ Smile

Is it really from a standard lighted tail switch ? cause I recently built another triple and stuck a lighted tail switch but its very dim compared to the one in the video, though I did use a blue to match the blue host.

I have one orange which seems about same brightness. Hard to say, haven’t fiddled with those.

Simon also sells these at the moment. In 3000k, 3500k and 4500k. If you order double of everything and send it all to me, I’ll build two, send you one and keep one as payment? Wink

I would love to buy a few of these. Never understood why convoy does not make one like this.

Get the emitters from Azhu here on BLF https://budgetlightforum.com/node/68168

I learned to reflow emitters from this tutorial by our own Vesture of Blood https://budgetlightforum.com/node/46443

I couldn’t find the chips, link me to all the bits we need so I can see how much it adds up to?

Hi that’s me. I got the bare Leds 219B from Convoy (AliX), optic (bicom) and mcpcb from KD. The driver is the “new (R020)” version 12 Groups 55 Modes 5A. It pulls 5.7A max with that triple.

Limited English, still working on it.

Yes it is, just add bypass. The one that pushed the output of that Lighted Switch is a bleeder resistor. I used the 330 Ohm (331).

Thank you! The plan is I want to sell it locally in my country at around $45, but haven’t upload the products yet.

As if you want to build that by yourself, the parts is available in Convoy Flashlight Store and KD. If you want the Carclo optics and Noctigon board, you can buy them at intl-outdoor.com. You can make the spacer at your local machinist or just order it from kiriba-ru.

Is that for the whole light or just the emitter?

Whole light I guess.
My build from parts costs something like:
Copper spacer + mcpcb + tir = 12.7€ + 1-1.85€ shipping.
3×219b’s = 13€
S2+ + lighted switch + pocket clip = 20.09€
Led4power.com driver = 12.7€
Glow gasket = 9.67€

Total cost little bit under 70€. Shocked I’m a bit shocked actually, but you could make one without excess bling, different driver and with current cheaper led prices and that would be like 30€ cheaper, something like 40€.

Awesome man. Wish you live here in the States. I would love to get one of your custom pieces, but shipping might be a pain to Cali.

I’m willing to buy one of these if the shipping to UK isn’t too crazy. 3×219B with a 5A driver, don’t need a fancy lighted tailcap.

Whole light, include the 18350 body. But no battery included, the price is a bit high for it’s specs because there’s some taxes and the copper spacer cost me around $8 each at my nearest machinist :’

I’m sorry, I don’t have access for the international shipping. I hope there’s a member here that would build you the flashlight, especially near you nor at least still in the same country.

So it will be 21700 with quad leds. Still awesome.

negev, I am not sure if he can do it, if he is available or willing to put that light together for you, but try to reach member G0OSE (https://budgetlightforum.com/user/12792), as I’ve seen some stuff he modded and it looks good.

And he is in the UK.

I just built S21A quad with 4500K 219b’s. With Kaidomain quad TIR and pcb it needed about 6mm high and 22mm wide flat spacer. Because its flat, it is easy to make yourself. If you have round stock aluminium or copper, you only need saw. Kaidomain TIR was perfect match to S21A. I used Led4Power 12 A driver.
