My K3 came up missing since my trip to the hospital three days ago. I have looked everywhere…under couches and cushions, in bins, sheets, drawers…I’ve tried retracing my steps. It’s just gone. Have you ever had this happen? Is it reasonable to suppose that one of my neighbors somehow snuck in and took it…one flashlight I left by the TV in the living room???
Starting to think someone took it… is paranoia. And I know, because I’ve done it myself. Then I feel foolish once I find the item I’d lost.
For things that are very much valued, you have to designate “set down” spots in the rooms of your house. You need to set the item down? Put it in those spots. Make that slight extra effort. This way, when you come back to look for it, you’ve got very few places to check.
Maybe you packed it in a bag? Once I thought I lost a light while travelling by car, turns out I clipped it somewhere inside since my bag was on my lap at the moment and didn’t want to pocket it.
The brain makes mistakes. Many. The real problem is, we’ll get no hint about that happening. Chances are excellent you completely forgot something unusual. That’s since we remember in terms of patches of memory fragments. Unusual things are often not remembered since there are no patches for them already. Problem is, you can be very sure about you remembering all your steps, but missing one very important.
The opposite can happen, too: You can be convinced you did something you didn’t, just because in the past you always did this in similar contexts.
We humans need an update. A RAM expansion.
And you need to look at places you are convinced the light is not.
A few weeks ago I went to get one light and realized that two lights were missing. After searching a little bit I noticed it was three that were missing. I searched a little more and then remembered that I had put three lights in the downstairs freezer at 2°F to do some battery/flashlight testing. I had put them in there 3 nights prior only intending to leave them in for a day. I was relieved and happy to do some testing. And yes this is the first time that I have a put some in the freezer. So I’ll know where to look next time. I’ve done some testing pulling them out of a vehicle at that temperature but thought I should do slightly more controlled situations.
It happens. I’ve so far twice “lost” my Convoy L6 at home. I think the fact it’s in a padded carry case helps that, as it’s not standing up on something.
I had the same thing happen here , give it time. Mine showed up a few days later (we literally had the house apart looking for it and gave up) it had rolled under something in the front room, or been kicked there by someone accidentally.
If you have a ‘MRS Rusty Joe’ it will likely show up when she does some tidying/cleaning as women seem to find places us men don’t even know existed
It’s the last place you left it —- some where between peeing and screaming from peeing — all it takes is to buy a new one and the old one will appear out of jealousy
I used to say lost doesn’t exist in my world. I either put something down and forgot where I put it, or someone stole it cause things don’t grow legs and get up and walk away. I changed my tune a few months ago when I “lost” a Boss flashlight that was clipped to the outside of my jeans while riding my motorcycle. I found it a week later on the side of the road. In a way, my second sentence is still true. I “forgot” that I had clipped it to the outside of my jeans…
