Review or not to review is the question...

I was sent the Supfire L3 for review and even though it’s not half bad, it’s just there’s no seal in the head so it’s not even rain proof. It’s not like it’s missing an oring either, it’s just designed in such a way to let the air in and out since it’s a zoomie, it has large notches to let the air in around the plastic aspheric lens.

I said yes, and then changed mind, but they said it had already been shipped. I looked up the tracking number and it shows it was picked up 5 days after I had said no. It could be that it was sent out from the factory and collected 5 days after.

The seller was a bit deceiving by first stating he stocked Imalent, Fenix, Nitecore etc and asked for a review, it was only until after I agreed, that he linked me to the L3 :frowning: . He’s selling it for $42 usd excl shipping which is way more than I’d ever pay, maybe $10-15.

Has anyone been in this situation where the flashlight can’t be recommended at all? Maybe as a flashlight for muggles for use in perfect conditions, but that’s it.

I’ve emailed the store and said I can review it, but can in no way recommend my viewers purchase it. I doubt they’ll want me to make it if it’s to tell everyone to not buy it lol.

In general, if you agreed to review it, review it.

You contacted the seller, mentioned some of your reservations. If he asks that you not, then don’t.

Didn’t The Flasholic trash a FW light that had some serious defects? Nothing wrong with doing that. You won’t get any more lights from that seller if you do that, but if they’re junk and overpriced, why would you want to?

Normally, you can play up or down any characteristics. If the light is heavy (thick-walled body, etc.), you can say it’s “solid”. If it’s light (thin-walled body, etc.), you can say it’s “lightweight”. So, do you want co carry it as a club, or have it disappear into a pocket?

But bad is bad. If it sucks in water, that ain’t good. Mention it. Price is 3× what you’d pay for one? Okay, mention that, too.

Well, they responded and said I can say what I like, if it’s a negative review, that’s completely fine. Okay, I’ll just make it, but I’ll be careful what I say yes to going forward

Funny, but on lightinthebox.com, the description is

Supfire L3 LED Flashlights / Torch Emergency Lights Running Warning Light Waterproof 350 lm LED LED 1 Emitters 5 Mode with Battery and Charger Waterproof Easy Carrying Anti-skidding Wearproof Durable #7352038

so “waterproof” is mentioned twice, and “wearproof” (wtf?) is also mentioned.

One other site listed one of its uses as… diving.

Wow.

Best course of action is always an honest review. I have done several and the folks must know where you stand ahead of time. An honest review is good for your cred and may help them work to make a product better.

Just do an honest review and you should be fine.

I would do an honest review, just to make the people aware of the fact that there still are plenty of crappy lights for sale.

Give it 1 star

Supfire are going to hate me lol. Just finished running a capacity test on both cells and they are mismatched, no surprise. The cells have a minimum voltage rating of 2.75v and after a High runtime test both measured 3.63v & 2.50v. Using two in series like this is just dangerous for the average user without any knowledge of lithium safety. Over time they could get worse, over discharging one of them even further.

The positives about the L3 though is higher lumens and a wider spread in both flood and spot than the Convoy Z1. If this had an oring in the head and matched cells it wouldn’t be half bad, oh, and if it used the GT FC40 instead of the fake XHP90 with a cross in full focus.

I knew a couple girls like that.

both at the same time?
