Convoy M21D- Battery rattle

Hi all, I am using a samsung 40t battery in a new convoy m21D and it rattles around a bit. Are there other batteries that you would suggest which may have a tighter fit. TheLiitoKala it came with must be a little wider since it doesnt rattle as much.

Damn near every light I have has some rattle. I wrap a little paper or something around the battery to make it fit snug.

To eliminate rattle I usually wrap a little piece of painter’s tape around the battery, works like a charm (and I think it helps to keep the battery cool, since it won’t be in touch with possible warm aluminum, but I might be dead wrong, so don’t quote me on this one).

Edit:
How it looks:

You could also buy some wraps and double wrap your cells. The one you have that doesn’t rattle may be double wrapped already. Wraps are cheap and you can put them on with a hair dryer.

If I find it’s a particular battery that rattles, I wrap some painter’s tape around the battery.

If ALL my batteries rattle, I’ll put a layer or two of painter’s tape inside the body tube of the light, cut into strips so they’ll fit. Below is an example on a Wurkkos WK30 tube.

Some Chinese cells are fatter than they’re supposed to be…not sure if that’s just not caring about the standards or not holding the QC when stamping the cans or what (or possibly trying to squeeze in another wrap of the jellyroll inside) but it’s kinda normal. No worries about the rattle unless it just bugs you. I’d second the motion to just add a wrap to the cell. They’re cheap and easy and you’ll eventually need spares anyway. The translucent colors that I’ve had seem to be a tad thinner than the usual glossy solid colors.

Having the cell snugly in contact with the tube is better than having dead air space…a little, anyway. It’s the cell generating the heat and you don’t want to retain that really, so moving it to the metal of the host is smart (plus it gives you a better indicator of what may be going on in there. Same as we move heat from the emitter junction to the metal of the mcpcb/shelf/head. While a plastic wrap is still slowing the heat transfer it’s still better than air. This is a quibble, though, not like it’s super important.
