Im wondering if it would be of interest to people to know exactly what cells we are buying when purchasing re-wraps.
I cant afford to just start buying cells and unwrapping them myself, but maybe people who care to, can post thier findings here?
I can start it off with the unwrapped cell from an Olight Baton S2R II.
Under each wrapper is Pure Lithium Death.

Its not consistent, some companies rewrap whatever was on sale this week.
I can tell you that Imalent uses Samsung cells. Their 4000 mAh ones are 40Ts. Vapcells are all rewrapped LG and Samsung cells as well as some others from the Chinese market.
Like you, I’m not apt to tear apart $25 branded cells to see what’s under the wrapper either.

I stripped some Imalent 18650 3000mAh over the years because of pcb-defects and inside was in every case a Samsung 30Q cell …

one company i trust to re-wrap quality cells is Vapcell. although they can sometimes over rate them! i.e. the Vapcell G50 i use is NOT a 15A constant current cell, but a 9.8A Samsung 50G re-wrap. 15A is only if the cell stays below 60°C. :weary: thank you Mooch!
if you can, avoid re-wraps and only buy name brand cells (Samsung, Molicel, Murata, LG, Panasonic) from reputable sellers. any cell with the word ‘fire’ in it’s name is an auto NO-GO in my opinion. :person_facepalming:
i know some countries can’t have cells shipped to them unless it’s bundled with a light, which is really unfortunate.

Unfortunately I cant seem to source any of those cells, or at least not for a price im willing to pay.
All My lights so far (Sofirns, Wurkkos’ Convoys, Mankers, Olights) have come with included cells and all seem to perform fine in the lights they came in.
A few 21700 lights im interested in now dont come with a cell though.
My Wurkkos Ts21 came with included cell and seems to be fine in the TS21, and Wurkkos has the same cells listed for sale on their website as 2pc for $15 and free shipping which is the best deal available to me so far. But not sure if theyre good for the lights id be buying them for.
