Overdischarge protection - AW vs Redilast?

Hi there,

deciding on which batteries to give to my uncle (he works in the traffic police), but as the light is 2x 18650, I'm afraid he could get cells over-discharged resulting in, well, let's not talk about that..

So I wonder, out of two specific cells - RediLast 3100mAh and AW 2200mAh - which one has better / more reliable over-discharge protection?

Both are highly rated, should be ok with either. Redilast will give longer run time.

I have not tested the AW 2200, but I know from first hand experience that the AW 2900's protection circuit kicks on at a lower than recommended value (around 2.2-2.3v).  My Redilast cells have a high quality Japanese IC which kicks in @ 2.5v +/- 0.05v.  Also, zero failures out of thousands sold. I don't think overdischarge is that much of a problem if you use a 2x18650 light with low voltage protection as long as you use balanced cells. I mean with a light with something like 5v -18v voltage range it cuts the light if the total is below 5v, making 2.5v for each cell. Overdischarge shouldn't be a problem other than cell life, if you're not trying to power something like 5x XML with two crappy 18650s.
