Looks like Simon has the S21D in both the 519A and XPL HD now...ordered one of each last night! 4500k for the 519A and 5000k for the XPL HD.
I received a D4V2 with 519A's recently, along with a S12 with the same....it is quickly becoming my favorite emitter. Just super clean white light, and has now replaced the LH351D lights I had for high output, and reasonable CRI light.
The XPL HD might be really nice for that high efficiency, but good quaklity and high output light, which is an excellent balance. I can't wait to get them.
Oh man, you’re in for a treat. I love the S21D with the quad 4500K 519A. It blows almost all of my other flooders away (maybe not the BLF SP36, but that’s a different form factor and weight.) I got the 60 degree TIR so it’s a super smooth beam.
Cree isn’t for me, though. I’m too much of a tint snob. Every one of their emitters I’ve tried has been noticeably green.
Indeed, I can't wait for both of them. I believe the HD might be reasonably clean, but like the SSTs, and XHPs, even the LH351Ds, there's probably some green compared to the Nichia stuff.
However, for me, it's all in the lens and reflector. I'm pretty one can clean up most of that green if they really wanted to, but we shall see! I ordered the 10 degree units, but perhaps I'll order some additional lenses from him to experiment if they don't get the job done.
