Acebeam ec60 died, need something new.

I had an acebeam ec60 from vihn (skylumens) i bought several years ago. I used for duck hunting. I dropped it in the water, and now im looking to replace it with something new and similar in size.

I carry it in my chest wader pouch. So head size is a concern. I’m not looking for a coke can size type.

The trend seems to be 21700 for batteries. Im not apposed to 26650 though.

One thing is, for my purpose, no usb charge port. (Unless there’s a super bad azz light, I could silicone port) I like some spill with a larger hotspot, not super tight pencil beam. My target range is between 200 and 500ish yards.

Also, I can’t keep up with the current emitters options. If you could link me to specific lights and preferred websites. (pricing under 80)

I would love to see the options you guys come up with.

Thanks

I don’t like USB charging either as it is completely pointless. You can’t use the light while you are charging. Not to mention, it’s serves as a water entry system.

Unfortunately, my opinion is not the norm around here.

This lack of functionality if you want to call it that will severally limit your options.

I agree on the USB charging, I am not a fan either. If it is hidden, as in most headlamps; I can live with it. But the rubber stopper ones suck, for the reasons mentioned above; as far as I am concerned.

.

Had to goggle it. Looks a lot like my EC50.

Unfortunately, a lot (stopping short of saying “most”) lights have onboard charging nowadays. To get one without, you either gotta look to older models or go for a diving light.

Lotta dive-lights, though, are not just longer, but also have wider heads. Only exception I can think of is the DV-S9.

Rather’n retype everything, I posted about it ages ago: Ultrafire DV-S9 diving light? .

Great light that’s essentially a 26650 tubelight, so nice and relatively compact.

Also a good idea to use a long-ish tether in place of a lanyard, so it doesn’t go overboard without being able to pull it back up.

Yes, water entered the charging port. I should of silicone it, as I use the XTAR charging.

Any suggestions on a replacement?

Convoy M21B with SFT40 (8A current),12 groups,21700 flashlight?

That setup will get 820m, the PM1 will get 977m

USB charging is not a bad thing imo, but the way it’s implemented into casings is - there are plenty of situations where I’m out and about and don’t have an external charger and having usb is a life saver since there’s always one nearby or an external power bank to charge off.
For me the real problem is those pathetic little covers that never really seal, and break off due to the tiny weak bit of rubber holding them on leaving an unsightly hole and open for dust or water.
I’d like to see usb charging built into a little removable self contained unit (like a little pill - say 10mm thick) that just drops in behind the battery somehow under the tailcap (which would be removed for charging), maybe held to the back of the battery/light via magnets or some simple twist in lock so the charger lead would come out the back rather than the side - kinda ticks both boxes then, use it or not, either way it’s properly sealed when the cap goes back on. Wouldn’t make the light any longer because it would be at the back rather than the front.

Magnetic charging sorts that issue or just a port on the battery.
