I'll define a "real" flashlight as a very nice flashlight that's powered by at least one Li-Ion cell.

My first real flashlight was either the Tank007 TK-737 or a LumaPower MRV clone.

They were both somewhat popular about a decade ago.

I think my latest real flashlight was the RovyVon Aurora A23.

I got that one for no charge, but I did have to write a review for it.

It's a great flashlight, but it's my main backup flashlight, so I only use it when my EDC doesn't work, which is just about never.

I like having a couple of backup flashlights on my keychain because I don't like to be without a working flashlight.

My first real flashlight purchase was a mini Maglite in 1985.

My last real flashlight purchase was a second D4V2 last week.

- Getting a little tired of schlepping around a big 4D cell light, I ordered a SWM D40A in Sept.2011. Because the seller was not certain he could deliver it in time for my holiday, I picked up a Jetbeam RRT-0. The result: that holiday I had two brandnew real flashlights.
- Last light? Though I am somewhat slowing down lately, I could not resist buying a “faulty” Wurkkos D70 diving light. The light is no longer faulty but it gets little respect from the other shelf queens. So in a couple of day I will give it away on this forum.

You are a flashaholic if you are forced to come out of the closet, to make room for more flashlights.

WT90 battery carrier bypass mods and disabled parasitic drain. Also bypass at positive spring.

Sipik clone(?) Modded by V54 W/ XPG2. Originally purchased in November of 2012 modded about 5 years ago. Takes a 14500 L.Ion.

It’s about 700 lumens and 40Kcd when zoomed out.

To admit is to acknowledge. To Accept is to take action.

I am not clear on what is meant by “real” in this context. Might it be 3 to 6 cell Mag lights or Brinkmans?
If that does’nt fit real Maybe one of the hotwire mods with the incan bulbs that would burn up in a few minutes ? Evil
Or maybe something like The DigiLight 2× 3 volt lithium incandescent lights (1000XB-AE) would work?
If not those, maybe it would be something like the MG L-Mini II or one of 4 Sevens Quark 18650 LED lights would fit the definition?

My latest were these Convoy lights
Convoy S21D 21700 flashlight 4500K, 8A CC 30degree BEAD, 519A

Convoy M21F 21700 flashlight GT FC40 high CRI 4000-4500K, Gray

Maybe not super exiting, but I like both of them.

My first real flashlight was an Olight S2R Baton II in summer of 2019. Sort of an impulse buy.

I fell in love with it and eventually discovered the BLF and the vast world of inexpensive high powered flashlights.

Most recently got myself a Convoy L21B with SFT40. Super fun!!

Not the brightest flashlight in the collection.

My first ‘real’ led flashlight was Zanflare F2.
I had read review on BLF and imediatelly purchase it.
Before that I have numerous chinese no name led flashlights and Zanflare was big step up over in every aspect.
Last purchase is Convoy L21B sft 40 and I bought it after reading review from BLF forum member Funtastic.

If I don’t consider the Nebo Micro Redline a “real flashlight”, I guess a Convoy S2+ (black, 3/5 mode driver, XML2 U2-1A, 6500K) was my first real flashlight!

My last real flashlight purchase was the Lumintop Frog!

First: JetBeam Jet I
Last: Nitecore NU32 headlamp

In the 1960’s I bought a Boy Scout angle-head flashlight (2xD cell), and in the 1990’s I bought a mini Maglite (2xAA), but I don’t know if those qualify as “real flashlights” according to the op.

Mine was this Nitecore MH12S, which came with a tactical nylon holster. First real purchase for me, because Nitecore Singapore was having a Lunar New Year Sale in February 2021, offering a 40% discount.

That was before I discovered this BLF, Banggood, and Ali Express, from where I have bought cheaper flashlights. Can no longer afford Nitecore anymore. Astrolux, Sofirn, Wurkkos and Convoy are my favourite brands now. Good and affordable.

My latest purchase is Astrolux EC06. Still waiting for its delivery.

In 2009 I was determined to buy a "real  light"  and spent a whopping  $12 .

3AAA's . I'd seen someone selling $25 Fenix AA lights and wondered why someone would spend so much on such a little light .

Yeah, when I first started doing research on flashlights over a decade ago, I was looking at terrible ones for like $5 or $10  :X

Now, spending $40 or more for one flashlight is no big deal for me.  $)

After a lengthy afternoon power-outage extended itself toward evening, I spent a hectic couple of hours trying to piece together a working flashlight. All my old ones had been ruined by alkaleaks. Fortunately, by the time I finally got one sort-of working, the lights came back on.

That experience sent me to interwebs to search out a decent replacement, where I landed at CPF. There I found a great review by a fellow called selfbuilt for a flashlight called the Nitecore P36. Although it has been discontinued, I still like it today. 2000 lumens, 10 output levels, perfectly neutral tint, and an artifact-free beam from it's Cree MT-G2 emitter are a few of the reasons why.

So that was my first.

Can't remember my last, but it's been a while.

First was a right angle, brass AAA from Maratac. “Personal spot light” they call it. Most recent is a D4V2 in the new Nichia E17a Azure led. Its a really beautiful ocean blue-green color.
