I bought the T3 version, and I’m really hoping that we’ll see a S21A version happen. I just love the glossy titanium aesthetic. I know it has drawbacks, though…price, weight, and worse thermal properties.

What say you?

No. I want my MAO M21B damn it.

I want the T4 but I’m torn between the glossy finish and the stonewash which isn’t available yet.

I bought the gloss t3 as its kind of a mini clear anodised blf a6, my favourite torch

I wanted the shiny T4 but couldn’t find an SST-20 version.

I like AA and/or titanium flashlights.
Unfortunately, T3 and T4 are a little bigger in diameter than my expectation.
I know it’s to accommodate 17mm driver but why don’t just use 15mm drivers?

I agree with lumenzilla they are to big compared to my other AA /16340 titanium lights.

I couldn’t agree more.
The size is why i like my (modded) Lumintop Tool and Sofirn SC21 Pro

Grabbed one of the polished 4500K as soon as they hit the site. It hit the US today (now I wait another two weeks…ha). I really like the stonewashed type finishes but figured the polished would be easy to maintain in the future as it scratches or dings up, and I can always change it to something different pretty easily (not sure if a coarse cutting compound or brown scotchbrite would be sufficient but fine wire wheels and a whole range of paper grits…bob’s your uncle).

I’ve come to appreciate the slightly larger diameter of the T2/T3 hosts…fits the hand better, doesn’t feel “large” in a pocket, and when it comes to repairs or mods it’s nice to have a standard 17mm driver with tons of choices (not to mention a little more room in there to work). After really enjoying the Sofirn SP10 Pro quite a bit, I’ve also come to realize that for small lights like this I prefer a tail switch.

My Ti3 4000k 519a just arrived today. Machining and finish seem on par with the much more expensive Eagtac D25c Ti that I have. Threads are average, gritty ti. Great in hand feel but boy is this a chonker! Its roughly the same size as my Zebralight SC63W and notably larger than my other 1AA lights like the Jaxman E3 and especially the Ultratac A1. But its purdy and built like a tank.

BTW, anybody ever test out the water resistance of Convoy’s metal switches? Do they have a rubber membrane underneath or are they o-ringed?

Anyone got links?

The size is fine. In general, lights become harder to repair the smaller they get.

Also, it’s a great NiMH light. With a 4.2V 14500 cell, it’s significantly too bright on low to be a good hiking/camping light, but AA is a great cell to choose when camping in groups anyway.

Looking at the mode sets, it sort of seems like it was primarily designed around nimh drive with 4.2V as a secondary option — the 0.1% mode was removed.

Yes, sorry.

T3

T4

Well that kind of sums up my reasoning when I ordered the T4. One of very few lights where I choose aesthetics over other properties. Been using it for a while now around the house and it’s a joy to use. The T3 makes no sense to me in this context (e.g. around house lights are standing on a shelf in the hallway ready to grab and rarely sit in a pocket).

Is there a suitable 17mm 3.7V driver with lower lows? I’m thinking of replacing mine with a BLF A6 FET driver, but I’m not sure if driving a 519a with a FET is a good idea. The convoy CC drivers seem to have a pretty high moonlight mode, but maybe that’s a better idea nonetheless

Only interested in Single cell 18650 EDC lights.

I’ve heard rumors about a titanium S2+ coming, but I’ve seen no confirmation from Simon yet. There is already a silver-bodied S2+ so I’m not sure that the titanium version would look much different.

The S21A, though, has a lot less colors and no silver version. To me, it’s a better candidate.

TNX. Just a first world Problem. Very happy with a 12 year old light in plain black aluminium and seeing little progress.

21700 would be too thick for my EDC needs.

Waiting for Titanium s2+ CSLNM1.TG
