QUASICRYSTAL LED SPACING

Say you have a bunch of LEDs and you want to space them out but at the same time avoid the raster distortion or moire patterns you get with a square array. My sister asked me to do an art work for her new home so I used a Penrose tile pattern the one in Wikipedia and scratched the lines in Plexiglass and used a four colors suffice pattern to color it. It is about a foot across and quite pleasant to look at from a distance. It occurred to me you could space LEDs out at the nodes. You will need to run 5 sets of wires to power them not real difficult. I’m assuming you want to start out with a single color. If you want to use four colors try to force a three color pattern and use the forth color when you have to. Then go back and change some of the led colors to give a more even pattern. The art work is hers if you want to see it you will have to visit her.

Sounds like it would be an interesting exhibit.

Does your sister ride a bicycle? Ask her to load that thing up and peddle it all over town so we can see it.
