will anybody test the maxim "if it's too good to be true, it's too good to be true"? $22 for a $107 headlamp? Wonder why he's not including batteries

That’s because it’s not a $107 light. I don’t know what the deal is with that link but no one is buying one at that price.
It’s not even being made or sold. It’s the model before the Petzl Tikka XP2 which is now old and is on sale at REI for $37.
The price of $22 shipped is a fair price for this particular model. I sent an email offering to buy it at that price just for curiosities sake. It was an interesting headlamp in its day.
The gamble is buying it from someone who has only been a member here for one day but as long as payment is PayPal (not marked as a gift) for $22 I’m game.
Update: OK, I’ve paid for the light so I’ll give a brief review on this older (and well reviewed) headlamp when I get it!

they still sell the Tactikka XP for like $60. it's pretty much the same light except i think the Tactikka XP comes with all the colored diffusers included. i think you had to buy them separately for the original Tikka XP.

$22 is a good price for this headlamp if it's in good condition.

you can always swap out the emitter like this if you want more lumens.

hope it works out for you gcbryan. if all goes well, it looks to be a great buy for you. let us know.

I would not trust it... IMHO that thing have a 99% chance of go bad, BTW I wish you good luck :)

Are you referring to the seller or the light?

I got this headlamp today. Thanks OICW! I just wanted to provide some positive feedback.
OICW was easy to work with and shipped promptly.
I can see why so many people liked this headlamp. I’m not going to modify anything on this one.
It’s a tiny headlamp and light weight of course.
I’ve read that this light is ugly? I guess there was a brown version earlier but this one is various shades of grey. It’s not ugly at all.
For mode selection it has hi/med/low/strobe. It always starts on hi so you never have to go through the strobe mode. Strobe is at a medium rate so not useless and not annoying. Hidden would be better but I like the simplicity.
There is another button which is a momentary switch…“turbo”. This works for 20 seconds or until you release the button. Once you release it you can immediately use it for another 20 seconds if you so choose.
The sliding diffuser is very nice. The non-diffused beam is a spot (rather square). So people (I’ve read) have diffused that. I don’t see a problem with it as is.
The beauty of these lights that aren’t excessively bright is that whatever optics they use blend in much better
It’s got a nice tilting mechanism (hard to describe) but it’s a relatively large racketed cylinder.
Petzls are always overpriced in my opinion…not in this case however
I like this better than the XP2. The XP2 has a red LED and a higher output but it has several negative features (IMO).
The XP2 has a max output of 60 lumens and the XP is about 40 lumens on Turbo and about 25 lumens? on high and maybe 5 lumens? on low.
This is headlamp #5 for me so I didn’t really “need” another one but I’ve always been curious about the original XP and I’m glad I bought this one at this price.

congrats on a good deal! Pictures or a video review would have been nice I guess some of those too good to be true transactions turn out alright.

I’m using an old computer, dial-up connection and have no video camera. I’m doing well just getting a mini-text review up on here
It’s getting tough to even upload pics to photo sharing sites as they don’t like my older OS! Some basic pictures are in the first post of this thread although they aren’t great photos
