Nitecore Ci2 comes in a soft cardboard box with the black and yellow colors that characterize Nitecore products. Inside we find the Ci2 battery charger, USB-C power cable and multilingual manual.
Along with the Ci2 charger there is no USB power supply to connect it to the power socket. It would be nice if there was the option to buy it with a Quick Charge 3.0 fast power supply.
The XTAR SC1 Plus charger:
NITECORE has always produced excellent battery chargers updated with the latest technologies and compatible with the most recent cell formats. Nitecore Ci2 is a battery charger that is simple to use but fast and safe.
Nitecore Ci2 features QC and PD fast charging when powered by a QC / PD support device or connected to a QC / PD adapter. In the fast charging mode, on a single slot, it is possible in 35 minutes to charge a 3,500 mAh battery from 30% to 80% (3000mAh).
The protections of the Ci2 battery charger are good.
Externally it has a design with cooling fins to allow heat to be dissipated quickly and avoid possible risks.
Ci2 is built with durable and fireproof PC (polycarbonate) materials to allow use even in complex outdoor environments.
If a reverse polarity or shorted battery is inserted, the 3 green and 1 red indicators of the corresponding slot will flash rapidly.
The Ci2 calculates the charging time of each battery separately. When the uninterrupted charging time exceeds 10 hours in a slot, the Ci2 automatically stops the charging process of this slot and displays the full charge status to avoid possible overheating or worse damage due to battery quality.
Nitecore Ci2 is easy to use, just insert the battery or batteries into the slots to start charging.
Nitecore Ci2 is able to activate excessively discharged lithium-ion batteries with a protection circuit. After installing the battery, the Ci2 will test and activate the battery before charging it.
Note: When a battery is detected as damaged, 3 green indicators and 1 red indicator of the corresponding slot will flash simultaneously to inform the user while the Ci2 will automatically stop the charging process of this slot.
Nitecore Ci2 has an energy saving function. All indicators will turn off automatically if there is no battery inserted in the slot.
The USB-C charging port is available with a reversible plug-in of the charging cable with automatic QC / PD input detection.

I did some recharging tests using (supplied with the Nitecore MH40S) a QC3.0 power supply. I recharged the Nitecore NL2150 battery in 5000mAh 21700 format in about 4 hours, while a 3000mAh Sony / Murata VTC6 battery was charged in about 3 hours. At the end of the charge, the Nitecore Ci2 was not particularly hot even without having an internal fan.
In conclusion, Nitecore Ci2 is an good battery charger for those who need a fast and safe recharge. Ci2 analyzes the type of battery and selects the charging current on its own without operator intervention. Nitecore Ci2 can charge Li-ion and Ni-MH / Ni-Cd batteries compatible with almost all formats on the market including protected 21700 batteries.
