Better than LED? Kaidomain p60 Xenon dropins

Pretty nice, there’s definitely still a place for incandescent where best possible light quality is desired. I’ve been holding out using halogen at home and for photography waiting for LED’s to finally get good enough, both in light quality and reliability.
Your comparison shows that 219B isn’t it but I wonder how close the Nichia 519a 2700k (with dome) gets to incandescant in real use.

Looks very interesting, I’m tempted to pick one up to compare. Are there any with a driver which allows different output levels? Ideally boost running off one 3.7V battery. Are there any problems driving these at a lower voltage than rated to get a lower output mode?

I’d like to avoid picking up 18350 cells as I don’t own any other torches that use them, nor would I like a full size 2S host just for 200 lumens output.

I’m pretty sure multi level incandescent bulb drivers were a thing back in ?2008 when modified incandescent lights were all the rage, other members probably have better memory than I do of these, they were custom made and used PWM to avoid the biggest problem with undervolting the bulb- the very orange coloured light. Unlikely to find any available now unless someone is willing to sell, and it’ll be $$$ as they were expensive to begin with.

That’s good to know, thank you. So do these not have any LVP then? Does this require protected batteries?
