LT1 Lantern Not Working

Hi, haven’t used my LT1 lantern in >1 year, went to turn it on and it didn’t work. Tested the 18650 batteries and they are all dead….like 0.02 voltage.

BUT, plugging in ONLY the head of the lantern with a USB-C cable, shouldn’t it should work immediately? The switch is illuminated RED (should it be GREEN?)……the light DOES NOT come on.

Thoughts?
.

I’m guessing, but maybe the low voltage protection is preventing the light switching on?

Have you tried unscrewing the battery tube completely? Mine runs when plugged in to usb and no cells (though I get some bad inductor whine noises).

Ah you edited while I was posting (I had to double check the head will light with USB only) :stuck_out_tongue:

Mine is from a pretty early batch, with no cell tube, I get a green switch when plugged into USB C.

What usb are you using? The early ones (like mine) only use USB A to USB C cable- the C-C cables aren’t coded correctly (or something)

Yes, I just have the head connected with a USB-A to USB-C cable……the switch is RED, no light comes on

Well, if the head of mine….while plugged in with USB-C….yields a RED switch and yours reads GREEN, then I guess something is wrong with my unit and it’s not just a battery issue.

Is this worth getting fixed, or is it trash now?

Weird. I’m hoping others will chime in with suggested fixes.

Interestingly, while googling the LT1, I found this thread on Reddit about the low voltage protection not working for the aux LEDs on the more early models.

Worst case, you could order a new (and improved) driver from Sofirn.

I don’t know how involved swapping the driver is though. Now I know about the aux LEDs over draining the battery, I’m tempted to upgrade my driver too.

Thanks for you ideas, G’Monkey….appreciate it :+1:

Maybe someone else can chime in….how hard is it to replace the driver? Steps?

.

Thanks for posting that information Gravelmonkey. Will read up and see if it’s worth the effort on my rev 4.3
I don’t use it often and store it with the battery tube backed out but this is the type of light that I’ll keep until it dies or I do.
Now if I can just figure out how to keep that darn o-ring on without breaking out some glue…

Ok, unscrewed the head to check for any loose wires or such……nothing found. The only sign of life is, when connected to USB, the switch has a red light but flashlight does not come on. Nothing working with batteries in, either.

It’s going to go in the trash….only used 3-4 times but out of warranty. Sofirn contacted, but Barry offered no remedy.

IF ANYONE WANT THIS LT1 TO TRY AND FIX….you can have it for SHIPPING COST (U.S. only) :+1:

.

How many watts does your usb power adapter provide? Maybe the output is too low and the light won’t turn on as a result.

I’ll take it…. PM me cost & payment info please.

No idea, LOL….I tried the USB-A to USB-C cable supplied and another for my cell phone.

Also, some charged 18650s that work in another flashlight.
