Maeerxu

Anyone have any experience with this brand? Their lights are very unique and pretty reasonably priced.

I have several —- The lights are pretty well made and handle heat very well —- The driver lets say is different, but I’ve gotten use to it—- my only gripe is the switches are a little tight (like the oring around the button grabs sort of ) It takes a special tool to remove the switch

They are mostly clones of more expensive lights

Interesting, I never saw any lights that look like theirs, (at any price.)

Oh boy, here we go again...

They stole 90% of their designs from Barel Flashlights, custom US maker.

Anyone in custom flashlights world puke when maerexxu is mentioned.

agree:
.

or in this case maybe the texas company mechtorch is selling Special Factory Order made by maeerxu?:
.

they also clone barrel flashlights

there IS a recent new design by maeerxu that looks unique, but it is big and heavy, and only uses 16340…

I think there is also a site in vietnam than sells maeerxu hosts (they dont say so but you can tell if you know what youre looking at), but with dragon drivers…

The hosts are too heavy
Thickest walls of any flashlight I’ve seen.
The UI is worse than expected, and I expected it to be bad.

So if a company clones a far more expensive light at a far lower price, is that a bad thing. I thought this was the Budget Light Forum.

In China they not only copied the iPhone, they copied the entire Apple store.

So why now all of a sudden is copying a flashlight a bad thing.

What exactly is the goal here.

I wouldn’t put it past that Maeerux did the machining on some of these high end lights— The host are heavier than a FW3A for sure, but at least it will hold that output for quite a while — none that ramp down and then back up BS with a 10 sec burn your hand Turbo

We buy their Cloned— Cheaply made crap every day of the week

I have an S3 style light with their name on it. It’s $15 on amazon and has a 7135x5 105c driver. I swapped in another emitter and flashed gchart’s babka firmware to the driver. I didn’t need it but I was curious.

Intelectual property? One business does all the R & D and design, another business then copies it, sells at a huge discount - no r & d and design costs. It’s theft - consider that silicon valley has done most of the r & d used in chinese tech - all stolen.

The people buying the cheaper clone probably aren’t the same people buying the real one.

‘Budget’ doesn’t equate to ‘stealing designs’ though.

I use to tell people in my business (Home Construction ) they would always complain about all the illegals taking all the work, but at the same time they’ll hire them to do work on their stuff to save money. If you don’t want them around don’t hire them.

If you don’t want them stealing our technology, don’t buy their stuff — The trouble is, today everything is made there — not very hard for them to steal designs if they’re the ones manufacturing all our goods

I have an XT3 The UI is err… different but otherwise a good light. The auxiliary lights is actually one of the modes. Clicky switch at the back so there is no battery drain when it’s turned off

So true

Budgetfriedly, yes.

Retarded, no.
