Hi,
New to the forum but have always been into flashlights/headlamps. Have a few Ledlenser, Fenix, and Streamlight flashlights as of now but just found out about LEP lights. I’d like to pick one up for a nice long distance search light and just wanted some opinions on what others have before purchasing one. Would like to stay under $400, prefer 21700 battery size, and Type C rechargeable as well.

Welcome to BLF! These haven’t really got my attention but lots of people have been enjoying them. I can’t help with opinion or experience but if you just type “lep” into the search box there are some very good past threads listing options, comparing them with tech details and beamshots, etc. Lots of activity and interest in them over the last year or so.
Yeah I just found out about them so still looking through all the threads here. Looking for an LEP and a nice long lasting search light, but thank you for the reply!
well, in my opinion (and i have posted about LEP’s in the past)……
1. buy a cheap one. you will find out what you like and do not like.
2. then buy a better one with the features you like.
3. later, buy another when the technology improves.

consumer grade/price LEP’s are relatively new.
just like HDTV, they will get better and cheaper.
Maybe not fitting all your criteria, but the Weltool W4 Pro is the best single cell 21700 LEP flashlight.. in terms of throw.
It doesnt have USB charging, and the UI has 2 modes, and next mode memory...
But if you just want to start with any LEP, like turkeydance said: get something smaller, and see if its something you like using.
In that case, there are tons of options. I think we reviewed about 40+ LEPs at 1Lumen.com, so you could have a look at the reviews and see if they fit your needs.
You could also go with a hybrid light, with LEP and LED, like the Lumintop Thor 4. Yes, exaggerated specs, but nice all arounder.
so even if you don't like using the LEP anymore, you can still use the LEDs
