Free SBT-90 from Lumintop?

Hey gang! I’ve been out of the flashlight game for a while. But I decided to buy a Lumintop GT3 Mini the other day. Really like the light, but I wish it had Anduril as a UI :weary:

I also bought the extension tube and a 26650 battery to go along with it. To my surprise, my box came with a half completed flashlight. I emailed them (Lumintop) explaining there must be a mix-up, but they said it was a discarded flashlight they use to transport batteries. They also said I could “arrange the flashlight myself.” Well I’m pretty sure this thing is a GT Mini Pro with a SBT-90 in it. Take a look…

The light came without a lens, centering ring??, tailcap and rubber charging port cover. I tried putting a 26650 in it and “jumping” the battery to the tube; the LED flickers but it wont turn on. I did a continuity test on the emitter, and it lights up. So I’m guessing the emitter is good but the driver is bad.

Any suggestions on what I should do with it? Can I just take the SBT-90 out and put it in any regular FET/7135 1S flashlight or does the SBT-90 require 2S or regulated voltage?

Thanks!

Who is “they?” Where did you get it from?

I bought it directly from the Lumintop online store and I emailed them directly (with my order number) asking if they would like this incomplete flashlight back. I thought they had shipped it to me on accident.

You really should be returning someone completely DOA like that. If they tell you they will offer you $5 of your next purchase as compensation, call your CC company.

pretty sure its a “GT90”-LED which is a SBT90 knock off

So I purchased the Lumintop GT3 mini from the Lumintop store. It arrived in the box just as I ordered it. And it works just fine. Along with the GT3 Mini, came this half completed light. Which I offered to return to them. They declined saying that is how they ship extra batteries.

I have my GT3 Mini I ordered, plus this half completed light.

The photo does not allow to say for sure, but the diode does not look like an SBT-90. And I don’t think that you were mistakenly made happy with a $40 diode ...
