Powder Coated Maglites

One other change I did over the years was to powder coat various Maglites. This is a three color fade job - red to orange to yellow.

and the color that started the powder coating - WHITE

Nice! Is this something you can do without stripping anodizing?

i had the same thought - can it go over the exiting coating.

wow very nice are you planing on selling these ? if not i think my porkchops may start tasting like powder coat soon j/k

I've been thinking of getting set up to powder coat, and this illustrates exactly why. You can't get that shade of orange in anodizing.

Nice.

Very nice work...I like the white ones too.

I use a scotch brite pad on the anodize to rough it up a bit. I assemble the lights up to the 'O' ring. then I just spray the powder. It is thick, so, don't get any on the threads. Also, it tends to fill in the knurling and I try to stay light on the coverage there. These get baked in the oven to cure the powder.

The white ones look like flashlights a stormtrooper would have. Very cool.

I've thought about powder coating some flashlights for a while now. The problem is the knurling so I've been waiting to do lights with little to none. I have a friend with all the powder coating gear (and I even got him into budget flashlights!) so I really should give it a go one of these days.

The white looks pretty slick!

Pardon the OT paisley will (above) but I think your flashlight collection is the bomb. Those white Mags are so dang cool.

Wow!! What happened?

Didn't like the way it came out. I used paint remover to get the powder coat off. It was just neat the way it bubbled up and came off in a single piece.

how is the grip after powdercoat when wet

The surface is smoother, especially in the knurled area.

I really like you stuff. I always wondered why nobody makes a white flashlight.

Do you complete disassemble the maglites’ inside in order to powder coat? or do heat up with the insides? how do u do it? please let me know
