Even brighter than the U20 on high and exceptionally good performance on an NiMH. the only brighter light with an AA NiMH that I have is the EastwardYJ J09 which is a 1.5V maximum light.
This one gets hot with a 14500. the switch rubber sticks out and it won't tailstand. It is my first 14500 light to crack 300 lumens.
It seems better built than most C3s but is not completely interchangeable with them - the new grey C3 extension tube won't work though the older ones might. The head uses a different thread from the others so is not interchangeable with them. If the older C3 tubes weren't in sight I'd try them as I suspect they might work. They don't. This is essentially a completely different light than all the previous models.
Looks the same though and feels the same in the hand. I've always liked the C3 form factor.
The beam is quite wide and a lot better than the U20. Since it won't tailstand it was a little tricky to get this shot. The beam has a faint green cast, but not nearly as green as it appears in this picture.
Here are some of my C3s and clones - I have at least 5 more lying around.
93mm C3 stainless steel, C3 with a P4 in it, 5-mode Aurora SH0030 XP-E Q5 (AVOID!!!), P4 C3 with extension tube, Q5 C3 with extension tube (That is a good one), C3 with an R5 in it and a smooth reflector. Essentially no parts are interchangeable with the others.
Don't know because I've lost it. I think it might be in my mother's car which I had to borrow last week while mine had major (and expensive) surgery - will check when she's back this way next week. It might be in my car or my office but I don't think so. Will search the office tomorrow since I have to work then.
Probably heat or the driver circuit. The initial fully charged voltage bleeds off fast at those sort of discharge rates.
If I find the U20 I will measure the draw but I hadn't done so by the time I mislaid it. It might be in a patient's house - I need to go and see him again soon anyway.
No - it is quite different from the previous C3's. It looks like money has been saved on the switch ring but at least it has one, not just some plastic goop.
But I have only had it for about 6 hours....
I hope I won't lose it in less than 24 hours like the U20 :(
It is hot - but not too hot to hold. After about 250 seconds the stainless steel one is far too hot to hold - after 480 seconds this one is hot but not painful. At that time, current draw is 1.55A on a 14500 which is about as much as I'd be happy pulling from a 14500.
My ex was in bin WG (or 1T in XP-G notation) which is rather green. It is my most greenish light which is mostly seen in comparison with other lights. But I really like the big, bright and smooth hotspot.
What is wrong with these manufacturers??!!! A single mode crazy bright light in AA form factor??? We need a crazy bight Stainless 3 mode Ultrafire C3 r5 please!!!!!! Sweet light though none the less!
Fran as for no solder on the driver to the pill it wouldn't need it if the head screws all the way down to the body tube which it seems this light does. It would get the negative connection directly on the driver from the bear top of the battery tube, not through the threads and pill like a lot of lights.
Lights are making me bankrupt i've ordered 3 this month and all were over 15 bucks lol!!!
