Foy got me started....It's his fault....my Solarforce pix.

When I did a Google search, months ago, looking for info on Solarforce hosts, my Googlefu lead me here....specifically : to all the Solarforce posts by Foy.

Call his Travel Agent and book him on a long guilt trip.

Here are three of my favorites, cerakoted by Jeff @ 4bushweaponsrefinishingsystems.com.

UPDATE: TOO DUMB TO POST PIX HERE!

SEE POST #5....Thanx,NightCrawl!

Nicely done. Looking good for sure. But a tad expensive treatment to cheap hosts is it not? Though I've got no idea what it would cost to have something like that done in the states, here the cost would be quite absurdly high!

Regular bbcodes dont work here. You have to use the "insert image" tool or:

<img src="yourlinkhere">

in simple post editor.

Thanx!

I 'bartered' for getting these Cerakoted; not sure what the actual cost would be.

Thanx!

Not great @ posting pix. Not great w/ computers, for that matter.

In fact, I gave up in disgust, and THOUGHT I had completely deleted the thread!

Much to my dismay: I got an email that ya'll had replied.

I'll try to figure it out & fix it.

Yup.. looking good. :)

...my attempt failed.

WOW! Those things look sweet! Cool.

Uhh! Nicely done. But remind me not to barter with you - you are good :-)

Seriously though, they really do look good. Especially that yellow sand one.

Wow, those look awesome! Jealous would be an understatement. :D What drop ins are you running?

Thanx!

Actually, the 'yellow sand one' is an example of my lousy photography skills I mean deficits. In real life, it is Coyote Tan.

Nice!

Thanx!

All my drop ins are the excellent Nailbender XM-L's, as 'warm' tint as possible, so far.

Because I am majorly color-blind, anything with the dreaded 'cool white' tint gives me fits, with depth perception.

Have 2 of the new 7B-tint xtra-warm XM-L's ordered from E1320 here....and two more on standby, before the last week of this month.

That dark grey L2X is beyond awesome. I gues it's kinda pricey to do that, no?

Cerakoting is not real expensive.

But really durable.

Cannot give an 'actual cost', since barter was involved. If you'd like, I'll ask Jeff for a price quote.

The hangingthingamabobs?

Yes. Those are kinda spendy.

I used (2) #6 split rings from Lighthound, then a Spro Heavy swivel, and the TEC S3 lantern body (stainless steel,Cerakoted) and the TEC Accessories kit to replace the AndyGold GITD insert w/ a Merkava 3 X 23mm Tritium vial.

Prob'ly close to $50 each, for the hangingthingamabobs. But worth it, IMO. Can find my light in the dark, instantly. Actually saved me from losing the small light, which had worked its' way out of my pack, along Cottonmouth Swamp.

I always wondered about re-coating certain hosts. I own a storm trooper or two and love them.
Always something pinching at me tearing apart a perfect host with even better finish. Still havent decided
but if i were going to mod a light and strip the mil spec ano off to and coat with white cerakote, I would do it to a Solarforce. Its a damn good host that i could actually bang it up and with no concern.
To the OP thanks for the inspiration - Ordering a Solarforce host now and a cerakote - Love the dark grey / sand.

Glad you'll have one,too.

Tell Jeff that 'Gnarly' sent you, when you email him. It won't getcha a discount, but it'll make him grin!

He always glass-beads stuff, to prep the surface.

Just take the switchguts & O-rings & glass out & send the 'shell' to him.

After it's 'koted, it's baked on @ 200*-250*F for a couple hours,IIRC.

For that reason, he won't do lights if the 'emitter' can't be removed.

BTW: Jeff does the Cerakoted TEC A3's (aluminum) and TEC S3's (stainless) for TEC Accessories. And I just found out: Merkava on CPF is now selling them, pre-loaded with his Trits, for about the same price you can get the components for....in case anyone was looking into those.
