BLF Eagle eye X6-SE XPG2 swap : Pictures, Amp readings, beamshot and lux increase- Dedomed xpg2 update

Today I noticed that I had a spare xpg2 on a sinkpad left from another project. So I tought, why not try it in my new BLF Eagle eye x6 and compare it to my dads. It was really easy, it took me less than 10 min.

All the test were done using samsung ICR18650-26F cells
I used short 12awg leads for these current readings:

xml2: 2.84A
xpg2: 2.1A

Here’s a low exposure beamshot:

Left: xml2
Right:xpg2

The lux increase between the two is 37%

Conclusion:

I’m going to keep the xpg2 in mine since I like throwy flashlights and it’s still 600 led lumen. And the runtime is longer. In the future I’ll maybe dedome it.

UPDATE

I just dedomed the xpg2

Left: stock
Right dedomed xpg2

Nice trade. What was the centering isolator you used?

I used the stock isolator and turned it 45 degrees

Nice work Catnap, thanks for sharing!

Thanks!
I just put a dedomed xpg2 in it and it’s really impressive!!
I use my smartphone to measure the lux. I don’t know if the readings are true but it’s not important if you just compare lights.

Here’s the results from 3.5m

Stock: 1700
Xpg2 : 2300
Xpg2 dedomed: 3900
Jacob a60 ez900 dedome at 4 amps : 9400

3900-1700=2200
2200:1700=1,294~129% more lux than stock!

Maybe you can dedome a XP-L for it?

Edit: just noticed your post above mine and you already dedomed the XP-G2

Looking forward to seeing another comparison pic to the unmodified light.

How is the beam—Is it ringy— How hard was it to focus after Dedoming

At the moment I measure 61 klux with a dd XP-G2 @ 3 amps :open_mouth:

I use a XM-L to XP-G adapter, sanded down. Focusing is no problem, no ringy beam.

I still use the cardboard disk that it came with. It’s not hard to focus it but it’s very hard to center the led. The beam looks perfect if you get the led centered. I’ll post some pictures of the beamshot and another low exposure pic today.

I just added the dedomed beamshot to the post.
