Gearbest New Arrival: March 22nd, Convoy H1 CREE 29.99$

Hi pilotdog68,

Thanks for your interests and looking forward to your nice review

I got the older X5, same dimensions, and it seems awkwardly long at 137-138 mm. There’s a lot of wasted space in the design, but you are paying to accommodate the tail switch. If it’s like the X6R, the X6R has a fairly high parasitic drain compared to other e-switch lights, as I recently measured. Of course you always have the tail clicky to cut power on these though, vs. an MH20 low drain, for example. Of course though the X5 is excellent quality overall for the money.

X6R: 0.560 mA drain, NC MH20: 0.027 mA (0.061 mA if switch light blinking is enabled), SWM C20C: 0.009 mA, Olight S15: 0.001 mA. Measured on a Fluke DMM straight off the tail.

How are you even measuring parasitic drain on an X6R? On the X5R, you must disconnect power (the tail switch) to turn off the light, and I remember the X6R being the same way. I don’t think it’s a factor really at all with the X5R

There is a way in the X6R UI to turn off the light via the e-switch. I was assuming the X5R would operate the same, but guess not if you experimented with all options. I can check on the X5 this evening, and confirm. The X6R - I know I did it several times, and it’s why I used the X6R to test. Y3’s and Convoy L4’s for example, can’t be turned off from the e-switch. Some dual switch lights can be turned off on the e-switch, some cannot. Forgot what it was click&hold, double-click, something like that.

I think I remember that now on the X6R, but the X5R is definitely different. The only way to do that is plug the USB in, then click the side button. Without the USB plugged in double-clicking or holding gets you to strobe and SOS. Unfortunately the X5R is not very friendly to modding like the X6R was, but it’s a very usable light in stock form.
