FIXUP NOTE: be careful if you put a “butterfly” spacer with square hole over the LED, there’s a known risk that it will rotate and rip the LED off the board especially when hot.
And the emitter does have a clear cover over the phosphor which can also be peeled off accidentally, if you happen to twist a spacer around that runs into it.
I don’t know of a butterfly spacer with the bigger round hole that could rotate without contacting the emitter.
ALTERNATIVE: the 19mm 3M stick-on insulators have a hole big enough to rotate around the LED if they come unstuck, and the outside diameter is big enough to cover the solder bumps. Those squish down comfortably when you tighten the black parabolic thing down, and stay stuck to the board so they don’t rotate easily.

LOL. Thank you Killforfood ! I have had a fractured neck, fractured ribs, a hole punctured through my bottom lip, three concussions, a bleed on the brain and still have a steel plate and 6 screws in my forearm, but by the grace of God, the brain seems to be functioning at a relatively adequate level all things considered.

Whilst it is good that the warning is more prominent in the first post of this huge thread, there is no mention in the first post about the raised solder shorting issue. This needs to be addressed.

In this case it was not possible before we each actually purchased it. The inspection was done through a surrogate, ‘Cyberescudo’; who then relayed the specs to us [the buyers who need beware]. ‘Cyberescudo’ also relayed the specs to, and made the deal with Banggood.
BangGood then deviated from the specs and terms of the deal and shipped out an unsafe light world wide.
So now that the ones of us that have them in hand, can actually inspect them.
For those that are not pleased with their light due to any of the numerous valid reasons already listed in this thread, I have a suggestion.
This COMETA project was done as a GB [Group Buy].
So now, anyone that is unhappy or feels cheated….why not just do a GPPC [Group PayPal Claim]. It would be somewhat like “registering” for a GB on the forum except you would “register” for the GPPC with PayPal. There are an abundant number of reasons PayPal would readily grant this claim.
No more sending multiple emails, no more sending multiple pictures of the same thing, no more beating your head against the proverbial Wall of BangGood. The GPPC would free you from all that.
Now again, “I am not a smart man”; same as ole’ Forrest Gump…. but I wonder what PayPal would have to say about 75 to 100 claims for the same product against the same vendor???

Something about receiving a Jax Z1 labeled body or mislabeled head. It was kind of tough to read because Google translate doesn’t do too great of a job.

My Cometa zoom threads were a fair bit loose. I cleaned the stock lube out and slathered on some Super Lube. Now they're a bit tighter than my Z1, which now my Z1 feels a little loose comparatively... I may have to do the same to it.
I can't see any differences in the lens, so at least that's the same.
I ordered NW and my box has "V0 3B" on the label, so I assume it's a V0 bin. Probably right from my measurements.

I can see differences in the threads, and I took pictures. I never had to touch the stock Z1's zoom threads though, still feels great.
Kept everything totally stock, and I measured 5.72A on the clamp meter, on a EFEST 26650 4200 @4.19v. With the NW V0 3B:
Lumens in flood: 1078 @start, 1044 @30 secs (think turbo timeout kicks in at ~30 secs though as shipped!!)
Throw: 140 kcd , taken at 5 m (748 meters)
I think the relatively low #'s for the high amps is probably the V0 3B, but it's also important to know when I take measurements, I'm not measuring with a true 5.72A because of loss's in the tail. I measured the loss's and it's about 6.6% in lumens, probably over 10% in kcd (not measured though). This is why it still pays off to bypass wire the tail spring. You will probably get the full 6.6% back.

My Z1 is one of an older batch so they may have made changes to them since then. My Z1 has a green AR coating. The Cometa has a pink AR coating. Eventually planning on testing to see if there’s a difference as soon as I can get out my iron to flatten the joints and stick some tape on the pill.

I received the one unit I ordered, and glad I ordered only one and not the two I signed up for. Clearly, it’s not a JAX Z1 host, as claimed in the OP. I have a JAX Z1 and compared them:
they don’t LEGO - threaded different, the Z1 tube extension won’t go on fully - incompatible threading it looks like
slight style changes
slight dimensional changes
worse part is the zooming threads. The Z1 is smooth - you feel the quality. The Cometa is budget slop zoom threading - loose, grindy feel, at least in my one piece
I don’t see it mentioned in the OP, but might have been mentioned here earlier. It seems like a different manufacturer - probably sub-contracted out to build a copy-cat. I really didn’t care much bout the spring and LED wire soldering problems - all easily fixable for me, but I probably can’t get this Cometa to anywhere near the quality of the zoom operation of the Z1, and not happy about the incompatibility of parts and extension tubes. As a host, it’s a true downgrade from the Z1. Might have to try thick grease on the zooming threads - maybe that would help some.
I never would have thought they would have made so many changes in the pill area - the deep set driver is a killer for the ground out problem of the battery, and the re-design on top for the blacked out LED retainer piece is radically different, and again causes issues. Funny because the pill itself is basically the same size and shape - very hefty too.
The tail springs are too soft and too deep set as well.

PS: I was really disappointed when I first tried the zooming, as I expected differently from JAX! Now it gets clear slowly….
Just make sure that you use a High temperature non-conductive tape (like Kapton or another polyimide tape) or a High-temperature washer.
