LD29 or LD34 driver for XHP50?

I’m wanting to do a Maglite 2C mod using an XHP50. I was looking around at the drivers on Simon’s site and noticed he carries the LD29 and LD34 pcb. The LD29 will take (2) 18650’s in series and has a max amperage of 2.8A. The LD34 also accepts (2) 18650’s in series and is rated at 3A. I’m leaning more towards the LD29, but not 100%. Perhaps some advice to which one I should go with? Thanks in advanced!

Willie

Here are the links to the drivers:

Maybe this one from Kaidomain LD29S

I am also building 2D Mag with XHP50 shaved dome… Have the led,and that driver but not sure about reflector

You may want to consider using an HOP reflector. here is an OP reflector you may consider from kaidomain: http://www.kaidomain.com/p/S004023.M-g-MOP-Cam-Camless-Aluminum-Reflector-52mm-x-15mm I hear that the artifacts in the XHP’s are a little tricky to get out! Thanks for the Kaidomain link, but I am ordering a couple of more things from Simon and figured to grab one of the drivers I had mentioned for the XHP50. Think I will try the LD29 as another 200 mA probably won’t make a huge difference!

Good luck with your Maglite build! I will also be building some 2D Mags with the XHP70

P.S. If you do decide to order that MOP reflector from kaidomain, make sure you specify the camless! Unless you already have a lathe  You could also use a hacksaw if needed…hehehehe

Isn’t that an incandescent lamp reflector?

Thanks but I was thinking more about fixed refector, with no focusing option, definitively OP for xhp50!
I am also building a copper heatsink… Couple idea’s in my head but still can’t decide what option to choose…

Yes, but I have used them with older Seoul emitters and worked good! Hopefully I can make that reflector work with the XHP’s!

I assume you are going to use a larger star for the emitter and solder/reflow it to the copper heatsink? Just want to factor in if you were to use an aluminum reflector not to let it touch the leads going to the star pcb! The reflectors for the C&D size Mags are 52mm diameter at the bezel end. Have you thought about cutting the cam down on the stock reflector and see what kind of beam you can get? I will also build some copper heatsinks for the Mag mods. Was thinking making them around 1-1/4” in length and cutting a grove out on the backside for the driver pcb. What kind of design were you thinking of for the copper heatsink?
