Wurkkos WK01 & 02 voltage limits

Just wondering if any one had experimented with the WK01 & 02 and had discovered their voltage limits

I just received four of them in 4000 and 6000k, two WK01 and two WK02

The enclosed paperwork says the 01 operating voltage is 1.0 to 1.5 and the 02 is 1.8 to 3.0 volts.

Out of interest I put the two cell WK02 LED Head unit on the single cell body with a slightly drained 1.2 volt NiMh cell.

It works fine…i did not yet test till it runs out of power though.

I did not of course try powering the single cell head unit with two cells …just in case…

But it got me wondering if they are actually both the same head unit with a wider input voltge range than the paperwork lets on.

Has any one tried higher voltage like a single li-ion 10440 with the two cell..or even the single cell head ?

Just wondered what the limits were

I’ve used a 10440 cell in a WK01 without any problems but I didn’t leave it running for a long time.

I wonder if the WK01 and WK01 have the same driver.

Guess you mean WK01 and WK02, But yes, that was my question really

Hmmm
Interesting

I have had two units of the same 4000k heads running on a single cell for about 30 minutes, Rechargeable cells
Just checked cell voltages
One at 1.100 and one at 1.188

The single cell head unit will not power on with the lower voltage cell. Yet the x2 cell head unit power up

I’ve been running mine exclusively on 10440s. I bought 8 in all flavors.

1, Ignore / gift / discard 6500ks, they’re pointless. Output not visibly any higher yet tint and CRI much, much worse.

2, WK01 and WK02 4000k seem to use the same drivers. Their heads are interchangeable w/o any visible difference in performance.

3, WK01 w/10440 has higher output than WK02 w/ 2x AAA. Also, 10440 seem to largely remove SST20’s green tint.

4, 2x 10440 will instantly fry WK02. I’d only recommend WK02 if you can find and charge quality 10850, or really prefer the longer body that you’re willing to use 1x 10440 w/ a dummy cell.

5, It seems to be unregulated direct drive. Output will gradually drop to 50% @ 10 min.

6, W/ 10440, high is only visibly marginally brighter than medium, yet heats up much, much faster. I mostly stick to medium.

Point number 2
I am not sure they are the same… both the 4000k and the 6000k units, each single cell head unit had a higher cut off voltage… the single cell units would not light up when cell voltage was below 1.17, yet the 2 cell versions would still come on down to 1.08 volts

I am after the low brightness for cockpit use, and prefer the longer 2cell units as the ‘hang’ better in the flight suit pen pocket

So for me, the 4000k twin cell is my favourite
