Eigenbaulampe 6.1 "Olympic Torch"

Hello,

I have got some new stuff for you

You might know my other lights:

https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/6297

Well the third one (3 XM-Ls and one 26650 IMR) you could not really use because of the runtime. So I receivied it again and converted it a little bit.

Let me present you the "Olympic Torch"

Some specs:

  • output: about 6000 Emitter Lumens and 5000 OTF Lumens
  • power supply: 4 x 26650 batteries
  • led: 3 x Cree XM-L T5 and 3 x Cree XM-L U2
  • driver: Ampere (5A) and Micro (2800mA)
  • current regulator: 2 x LedStripe PWM Dimmer
  • reflector: 3 x D26 reflectors (flood) and 3 x Thrunite Catapult reflectors (throw)
  • UI: stepless regulation of the 3 flood and the 3 throw Leds

I already mentioned the stepless regulation of the 6 Leds.

You might see the joystick in the middle of this picture. It has 4 ways:

Up: Throw brighter

Right: Flood brighter

Down: Throw darker

Left: Flood darker

You can combine 2 directions so that you have darker and brighter, also flooed to throw and throw to flood.

The idea for this User Interface comes from Xandre, an innovative thinking flashaholic from Germany. I made this light for him.

The six Leds:

Size comparison:

Here are some Beamshots:

http://www.taschenlampen-forum.de/beamshot-vergleiche/18344-thrower-beamshots-750m.html

It blows away the TK70 and a SSR90 and is slightly brighter than a PH50

And that´s where the name comes from

I hope you like the light and if you have got questions just ask!

Greetings

Fritz

That's a killer light, Im making one like it but not so long

So how often do you signal the Mothership with that thing?

Very cool! Thx for sharing.

That monster is sick!

How much does that sucker weigh? Can you hold it with one hand or does it require two?

Magnificent! the torch of torches

You did it again Fritz.

It must take at least three fräuleins to hold it. :p

 :p :O

Kinda got lucky on that one because the only other things I can say in German are "Good day". "How are you?" "Goodbye". "Please" and "Thank you". I can also count to three.

Really quite embarrassing considering the number of members here that do fantastic in a second language, Fritz among them.

It was funny though, right?

Hi

This is my light and I love it.

The UI is perfect.

It marks the realisation of yet another sensible idea for which the market has evidently been waiting.(Maybe)

The idea with the joystick comes about from my crazy brain.

But Fritz is the man who reallized it.

The weight is 2305 gramms with 4 26650 Trustfire. One Trustfire is 88 gramm

250 KLUX @1 meter.

So bright and throwy.

I really enjoy this small light. Thanks Fritz!!!

Xandre

Wow, weighs in over 2 kilos. Doubles as a dumbbell.

That is an impressive light!

Hello

That´s right, I should have mentioned this! I´m sorry. The UI is really great, because you have an infinite control of flood and throw.

The brightness and reach is really incredible. One of the farest throwing Led lights out there.

Due to the fact that I had to look up "embarassing" my second language is not that good But thank you :)

Yes it was funny :D

Regards

Fritz

That is the mother of all toilet-plunger lights!

We call it Masterplunger

If you don't mind me asking how much did that monster cost?

At least you can see what you're doing.

Hello,

The costs of the material were about 270 Euro.

:D

Greetings

fritz

That is crazy! I love it!

Those components that you used are a bit pricey but with the options it gives you I can see why you went that route. I always believed that power without control is a bit pointless so this is certainly right up my alley.

A few questions about the build:

How long reaction time do you have from low to high?

How did you fit the electronic pcb's inside - I see they have different sizes & formats so I can imagine it was not so easy??

Is there any chance you can show a picture of the inside how you made it fit??

To make a long story short - I would love to wield that thing on a dark winter night!
