17mm Contact PCB Has Me Baffled

That’s been on my mind also. I’m just about to add a small spring anyway, so I’ll do it now.

Okay, I removed the etch, and everything works dandy.
I wanted to add a small spring because I wanted to try this light with a NiMh AA. They are slightly shorter than the 14500, so they weren’t connecting. Before I chose a spring, I tried a magnet on the NiMh…no go. Then I tried two, and three magnets…no go. The 14500 works perfectly.
Is there something to this 1.0A buck boost driver that I don’t understand?
I’m perfectly happy with the 14500, I at least thought I should get a flicker from the NiMh.
I tested it again using two NiMhs, and it worked. One NiMh doesn’t do anything.

Hi guys i ordered some of these boards ,so to b safe you need to remove the t bit coming from the centre to the outer :~

it sounds like the driver needs close to 3v to operate, got a link?

If it’s the I-O 1A buck-boost driver, it’ll only work for input voltages between 2.7-5.5v.

Yeah, that’s the one. I guess I should have gone back and referenced it. I bought it to run a 14500, but was surprised when an AA couldn’t even get it to flicker. Nice little driver.
