You need to have a USBASP from here
You also need a SOIC chip from here
Wire the correct pins from the USBASP to the SOIC clip
Then install USB drivers for the USBASP and AVRDude

Create a directory on the root partition (I choose c:\avrusb)

So, you want a flashlight with modes that are just right but can't find the one, no matter how hard you look? You are especially craving for a light that can be programmed with light levels ranging from hardly visible to full blast can't-see-anything-but-dark-spots-for-a-few-minutes when accidentally shone into your eyes? Onna stick In a P60-style host? Well, today's your lucky day.
Building It
First, you will need to organize a few parts. From left to right, the NANJG 101-AK pimped with a four…
Since you can't backup the original NANJG firmware (it's protected, you only get garbage if you try), you can't restore it's functionality if you flashed a new firmware to it (or messed up...). Here's a firmware that is somewhat similar (i.e. the mode group is selected by solder bridges between stars and the outer ring), but with more and different groups that seem to be needed more often (no blink modes).
2nd star chooses between 3-mode and 4-mode (i.e. if there's a moon mode or not),

I use an arduino and soic-8 clip instead of the usb progarmmer since I always have a bunch laying around. It’s a nuisance to set up the first time, but once you get everything figured out it can be a lot of fun getting exactly what you want
Edit: Forgot to mention you can also buy a 17mm replacement driver. I’d suggest QLITE REV.A 7135*8 3.04A LED DRIVER - 17mm
It should be almost identical, but with better firmware and slightly higher output
