UPDATE:

They are fakes. Straight out of the box it was obvious, all the identifying factors were wrong -
label color, printing, can / electrode shape, etc. I threw some on the analyzing charger and they were all in the 2000mAh range, well below 25R/HE2 2500mAh.

Disappointed I didn’t score a deal, but not surprised. Oh well, maybe next time.

Yes, they were quick to apologize and refund money. I even got an email about 30 minutes later saying they had opened a fraud case against the seller I reported.

BTW, PSA: Amazon seller “zwxj” is a counterfeit operation.

Begin rant:

Amazon used to be a safe place to buy things for good prices (maybe not the BEST price, but always competitive) and with really useful, relevant, and trustworthy reviews.

Now those days of “Amazon is great” are all over. Amazon is barely one step above eBay, and in many cases my preference has swung back to eBay (at least on eBay I can easily compare prices, prices don’t change hourly, and I know who I’m buying from).

  • Amazon reviews are no longer trustworthy due to all the paid, sponsored, or otherwise biased reviews.
  • Amazon is no longer a safe place to buy authentic goods when you cannot know who will supply the items in the listing (Amazon has a listing for Samsung 25R, but it is fulfilled by any number of sellers, many most of whom are scammers.)
  • And the prices on Amazon (IME) have become less competitive as Amazon has become the 800-lb gorilla in the internet retail world - when Amazon knows people will pay whatever Amazon asks for an item (because people blindly buy from Amazon due to reputation), they obviously will overcharge for items. It makes short term business sense for Amazon to charge above market prices if they can, but it has eroded my confidence in them and I no longer make nearly as many purchases from them any more, I just use Amazon as part of my research and then buy elsewhere.

These days, the ONLY thing I like about Amazon is the “free” 2-day shipping (that I pay $100/yr for) to satisfy our need for instant gratification.
