3 XM-L Module Bid For Charity

Because no one else is bidding on it. Also he didn't know this but I am going to outbid anyone who bids. :P

Sounds perfectly reasonable scaru, as always..

$85 to the furry friends.

Someone sent me a PM asking about recommendations for a host for this module. Rather than respond directly, I thought i would post it here so that everyone would benefit from the answer.

Unfortunately, I don't yet have an answer. I've ordered quite a few hosts that I 'think' might be a good fit, but not a single one of them has gotten to me yet. The module is 35mm in diameter and about 16mm tall including the lens and the circuit board. I think this size will actually make it a good fit in quite a number of hosts, but i can't yet confirm or deny a single one of them.

I've actually considered getting in touch with Solarforce to see what it would cost me to have them do a custom host just for this module. When I have a little time, I think I'll do just that. I'd have them do 3X26650 host, lots of cooling fins, MIL-A-8625 Type III Class 2 (HA) Anodize, and a REAL 100% Copper (ie. NOT Brass) pill for the module to mount to. Wonder if they'll be reasonable...

Congratulations to scaru! 86 dollars to support a good cause.

PM me with your choice of Neutral T5 or Cool T6 when you have a chance so I know which one to set aside.

Thanks everyone for playing!

Congratulations scaru!

Great cause too!

Thanks to PilotPTK for an awesome giveaway!

I want to very publicly thank scaru for being such a stand-up guy. I've already gotten proof of his donation! Thanks for bidding scaru, and I hope you enjoy your 3-XML Module! Please share your thoughts on it once you've got it!

Once I get it I will be putting it into a 3d maglite and I will post a build log along with beamshots. :) Also I'd like to say thanks to Pilotptk for donating one of these to the cause.

Nicely done, everyone.

Just for reference, a short while back an OEM quoted me $15,000 to design and tool my own flashlight. I didn't take it any further once I got the quote
