Lastly, do you happen to know if the 219 LED option still offered by Simon is the 219B variant? I realize those are discontinued now, but if he still has some stock, I’d definitely be interested in that setup.

I have H2 with 219b 4500k & 3500k and B35AM. All 3 have throwy beams btw so, for me, better as walk light, as opposed to light for close-up work. The 219b 4500k has beautiful rosy beam if that’s what you’re looking for.

It’s what he does with S21E as well… He only added the 23.5mm Yajiamei that fit S21E without a front glass after I randomly found them in the Yajiamei store, ordered some and told him that they fit.

I really don’t like TIR behind glass, unless it’s a smooth throwy TIR. But pebbled TIR behind glass… Nah.

The 23.5 Yajiamei fit perfectly, but that obviously doesn’t help with the H1.

There are no TIR optics for H1. […] I dont know how Simon installing TIR. Probably pressing with fat silicon gasket.

I just spotted that the 60° TIR is available as an option when purchasing the H1 on the Convoy store — so it seems Simon does offer a TIR setup officially.

I think I read last night that there’s a copper shim used to make up the height difference when replacing the reflector. I’ll try to find that source again and report back once I do.

Is this the mentioned lens: 23.5mm TIR lens for 3535 LED ?
Do you use it with 5050 LED or 3535 ?

was previously advised to avoid linear drivers due to their inefficiency, but you mentioned that the H1 has a “regulated” driver now. Is that significantly better than the older linear one?

I’m by no means a driver expert but I was under the impression that you can still have a regulated linear driver, until it drops below the voltage of regulation then is essentially direct drive.

Convoy H1 - Disassembly, Testing, and Modding

I took it apart today and remembered this. Better late than never. I don’t have calipers but its this big [20230531_140145~3] [20230531_140432~2] [20230531_140442~2] Fits right in that little spot of aluminum. I’m calling it 17mm x 1.5mm assuming convoy boards are sized right. Picture next to a 20mm x 1.6mm convoy board and a Canadian dime. Little bigger than a 16mm x 1mm board, little thicker. Not quite as thick as a 1.6mm board. So that’s my guess. Maths!

I bought it with reflector. There was no spacer. I had to make my self. On official site there is no damn info or spacers to buy .

Anyway it is heavy and need that damn spacer to use TIR optic … but yea x2 cheaper than H04.

Yes, it only fits 3535 and (if you don’t mind it scraping a bit on the edges of the emitter) B35AM.

I am using it for 5050, by using a 5050 gasket as a spacer, and filing the bottom part off the TIR. Works, but it’s a bit risky. I damaged my XHP50.3 already when I used a too thin gasket.
