I think "My Stuff and Your Crap" is a fairly universal attitude - male or female.
I’ll gladly take any lights off your hands. 
One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. 
Just the opposite. We have tons of stuff that is either broken/defective/not needed/useless/decayed and somehow it all gets stored away.
Every now and then I’ll organize a spring-cleaning and remove (well… at least half) of all that useless junk
(unfortunately, to create space for more useless junk) 
“Decayed” is the one that worries me…
Yeah… you know how it is… You put something in a cardboard box and months later open it to find it’s gone to rot.
In our hot, humid (65-90%) climate that’s what happens usually.
