A bit off-topic, but I found a better way to search AliExpress with mandatory keywords.
I was looking for a specific type of watchband, and when I pasted this in the URL (which has Google as the search engine), I got the best results:

site:aliexpress.com “watchband” “mesh” “blue” “22mm” “quick release”

This works for websites other than AE, too.

EDIT:
You can also go to google.com and paste that info into the search bar.

This workaround requires clicking on more links, but it’s much better than AE’s terrible search engine.

Yup, done this trick for years, even for BLF!

This carted up for me but I got one a while back for, I think, ~$40.

Wow!

It’s coming up as $70 for me

Maybe this link. It is the Sofirn Local Store.

I figured it out.
I didn’t have the correct listing:

Is it just me or do the discount codes work even less well than they used to? Tried a bunch of codes yesterday and had many failures.

Seems like prices are generally higher than they were 6 months ago?

Yeah everything seems more expensive

Back when I started this thread it was focused on Super Deals. There were some really good deals that didn’t require coupons. Most were for Sofirn and Wurkkos with a few other brands appearing occasionally, e.g. Lumintop.

At some point in perhaps the last 1.5 years or so, I stopped noticing these name brands on Super Deals. Now the only lights I see are no-name, obviously cheap (price and quality) products.

I don’t know about discount codes in general, but for Super Deals it seems the name brands are no longer participating. (I have no issue with people posting other, non-Super Deals, AE deals in this thread).

Tariffs? Although the 1.5 years comment would seem to invalidate that notion.
No longer giving great deals because they’ve become established and they can simply charge more?
I’m assuming some of the forces that up inflation here may actually impact other nations also now.

The Super Deals dried up definitely more than a year ago.

This is a wild, baseless guess, but I think the brands were being forced or at least compelled to be in Super Deals. Some of the deals just seemed too good compared to what the brands would promote on their sales, even the big sales like black Friday and 11/11. I don’t recall ever seeing the brands promote the Super Deals for their products. IIRC, you couldn’t even find the deals on the brands’ store pages, you had to find them in Super Deals. It seemed more like AE was pushing the deals than the brands were. But who knows?

I believe Simon(Convoy) eluded to this in a post at one time.

Part of this is leaning into playing the long game . Lots of marketing is based on impulse . The need to buy the newest hottest thing . If you’re patient and willing to jump at the right time you can score more great deals then your pocketbook can probably afford .
If someone posted a crazy good deal on the TS11 there would be no good reason not to jump all over it . I think the same could be said about the Q8+ for $40 . The value of the batteries alone being 1/3 of the price paid .
There’s no doubt the deals haven’t been great lately .. but history has a tendency to repeat itself and the really good deals will be back .
Acebeam lights on Ali were really cheap and of course I slept on them …
Learn to jump and jump with both feet when someone like SB lights is dumping stuff for $5 or finally $3 for older lights that sold for $20-$30 .
I was waiting for people to bemoan the inability to buy good cheap lights to giveaway for Christmas gifts after passing on crazy good deals .

Haha, I remember that deal. I got a mixed bag of 10 of them for $30 or so. I gave away most for xmas that year.

As for AE, I regret not buying the Thor 3 LEP for $85ish when it popped up on Super Deals. Then again, there are several lights I did buy that I regret.

Hey guys, I’m a newbie looking for my first real light. Found the Sofirn SC33 for around €36 on Ali https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005005585980700.html.

Is this a good deal for the 5000K version with the boost driver, or should I hold out for a better sale? Thanks!

For me, on their own website you get 33€ minus a 10% coupon:
