ALL THINGS BUDGET KNIVES

No need to have the sad look upon your face like Han, acab! ;-)

I just talked to Gearbest customer service as my order has not been shipped yet.

They were very kind and helpful. They told me the Land 9103 is expected to be restocked again by June 30, 2019.

Ugh, I was going to order it as well, ya snooze ya lose :frowning:

Thanks for this bit of information. But they have told me that many times and the item was never restocked.

In fact, the entire item page has disappeared now.

Several SRM models have been discontinued, not just this one. I guess I am too late. There is a slim chance they may relist 9103 under a different SKU, but who knows…

Oh that's bad! :-( At least I hope they keep their promise this time, so everyone who was lucky enough to order it when it was available to order will eventually get it. Fortunately, June 30 is not too far away to wait but if turns out they lied to me I won't be waiting for any further sorry excuses. I experienced something similar with an Imalent RT35 that was never shipped even though I waited for two months and shipping date was shifted again and again.

Since we're talking about late or no shipping. Has anyone recently ordered these two knives?

I paid for them almost 4 weeks ago but their availability date is being postponed again and again.

I have ordered the M07 a while ago (about 8 weeks?) and received it quickly. This was before they changed shipping contracts and/or options. (It was either free or very cheap shipping, but tracked).

The Enlan M07 is one of the better compact knives out there, very smooth blade movement and no play at all. Nice, secure liner lock. It is a small knife but one of my favorites and it even has G10 handles. I believe after points I paid only a small amount, 4.30 $?

re: SRM
It was common knowledge that SRM has stopped distributing several models. The 9103 was one of them. I should’ve just bought them last week instead of waiting around. Even fasttech won’t stock this one anymore.

Sanrenmu still offers the Land 9103 on their own shop but their price is quite a bit above the Gearbest price.

Apparently, the same happened to the Sanrenmu 4059...

I paid shameless 19 Euros for this little gadget on Amazon DE but I really had to buy it. :-D

I got a bunch of Land 910s and 9103/4 for like €12 shipped back in 2017.

I heard from some reps that Sanrenmu’s OEM customers applied pressure to them…. asked them to stop selling such knives as Land 9103

The reason is that a 9103 for €15 makes a Ruike P801 look like bad value. This made Ruike (or similar companies…I do not know exactly who complained) unhappy.

Just what I heard.

Glad you like it. It has been my favorite buy of the year so far.

:+1: ….

I'm afraid my worst expectations have come true. :-(

Gearbest's promise to restock the Land 9103 and despatch it before 06/30/19 was not kept.

The Land 9103 is still completely gone from Gearbest's website.

I guess I have to cancel my order and request a refund.

I have a couple ordered also. I’m just gonna let my order ride a while & see what happens. Maybe they will come through before to long. .

I had a ticket for that Land 9103 and was also told it will come back. Maybe they’ll list it under a different SKU or it will come back in a different shop/seller on the GB platform?

Sanrenmu is the OEM of many big brands, like Boker for instance. Ruike and Real Steel are also Sanrenmu.

Was it a good price? Leave the order as it is.
Do you hope for a $12 flash sale, cancel the order and try your luck next time.
The 9103 is well worth $20 though, SRM made knives with Böker+ or Ruike logo in the same quality range would be $30, if Boker even $50

It was on 13.99 flash sale or, later, on 12.99 super-sale.
However, the shipping component is now more than before for a lot of products. This change just happened.

There are other shops that sell the 9103 though and there are also similar knives (clones of the clone, you’d call them).

I know this for many years.
My comment was that my source did not tell me specifically which company complained. So I cannot blame XXXbrand for discontinuation.

Only that some of their OEM clients were not enamoured with the great value of 9103 et al.

THe main problem is.
Being OEM. to a few Mfg’s. Cheaper and more exxy brands.

The exxy ones (in name) are charging a lot more for same quality/style build blades, that the cheaper mfg’s are selling for a lot less.

People are realising. and buying the cheaper brand/models at a more sensible price.

A LOT more of this is going to take place. Greed and whinging.

They’ll either have to take over the OEM plant or bring their prices down.

They (their blades) ARE obviously mfg’d for a lot less than brands asking for them
so suck it up buddy……

Why should we pay all that extra for same. same hey.
Don’t be so greedy…

Today, I talked to Gearbest customer service again:

The Land 9103 is now expected to be restocked again by July 10, 2019. I find it hard to believe that, though. It's still gone on their website.

https://www.gearbest.com/pocket-knives-and-folding-knives/pp_620961.html

Last time I was promised 100 points once it is shipped, this time I was promised 20 points.

I have also waited for several weeks already for some more orders/knives that are OOS, too.

This is what I was told today but I start having doubts about the truthfulness of these dates.

Enlan M07 ► by July 4-10, 2019

Enlan EW148 ► by July 4-10, 2019

However, they do not seem to be willing to ship out single available items of an extensive order.

Thank you for the update. I would just wait it out.

I wonder whether there is some kind of Asian GB hedge fund that uses the millions and billions of customer currencies waiting in their accounts while nothing is shipped. I bet they make a better return with that stream than with shipping cheap knives or flashlights.

My two Land 9103’s shipped a few hours ago… on 1 July 2019.

It most always pays to wait it out…. … :+1:
