ALL THINGS BUDGET KNIVES

That is nice looking . I don’t own any but the Petrified Fish brand usually gets really good reviews.

Nice. I’ll have to keep that in mind for the future.

Thanks! Spotted a guy on eBay selling that for the same price as the Leatherman site but with free shipping.

That is a nice knife. You are right. Thank you.

I have ordered several knives from them, each was a great experience and fast delivery.

regarding hatchets, this is what i use:

Hi guys, I was watching the movie total recall 2012 on Netflix, in the end fight scene the bad guy gets out this knife at 1:42:54 frame. Can you help me Id it?

Thanks in advance for your help.

looks like a Benchmade (Mini) Griptilian

Looks similar to my crkt drifter/sanrenmu 707. Maybe they copied the blade shape from benchmade?

Reminds me of a SOG Spec Elite, but might be a Benchmade Griptilian. I know the double edged fixed blade in the movie was Cold Steel.

Yes it's anti-american, and yes it may he ruining our economy, and yes it's infringement on intellectual and copyright laws...BUT!...I've gotten 4 Chinese clones of designer knives. Couple Microtechs, a Boker, and a Benchmade. Yall..they are superb for the price. G10 scales and D2 blade steel is quality stuff..a few years ago this was top of the line. All perfectly resembling their original designer models.

Whatever you do, don't say that at a place like BladeForums or JerzeeDevil.

They're really against Chinese clones over there.

It's fine here on BLF, though.

Hehe. Thanks brother. I need all the guidance I can on public forums. I kinda figured this place is ok with China made stuff as most of the torch market is dominated by China. Yeah I'm a member of bladeforums for over a decade...I know how much they adore certain American made manufacturers. I'm a huge fan of Busse and Busse kin, own lots of their stuff...lots of high end collector stuff...but im not stupid and I'm not gonna carry it to work... im getting a clone of my favorite knife to use. Hopefully everyone understands here...but at bladeforums they will not.

Yeah, technically not a “clone” but more of a “homage” was the go,comma (BeerGuest house-brand, I think) flipper that was modeled on a PF. They were going for like 6-7bux a pop, so natch I “stocked up”.

If it carried the PF name/logo, yeah, illegit clone, but this was clearly labelled as not.

There is not much intellectual property in knives other than in the steel. Chinese manufacturers can and do import high quality steel as well such as M390.

Sure the designs are copies or clones but really, it’s supremely easy to design something different that looks just as cool. Some Chinese manufacturers (like Green Thorn) do have different designs but others find it more “marketable” to clone since it’s hard to establish an unknown, new brand.

I wouldn’t call it Anti-American. Just because it is gray market or even illegal doesn’t make it immoral. The Benchmade axis lock mechanism has been patented for decades. I would argue it’s immoral even if it’s legal to let them keep the patent after so long on a relatively straightforward mechanism.

I wouldn’t celebrate a copycat knife and I certainly frown on outright counterfeiting, but yeah. This place is pretty permissive. Mention companies like Ganzo or Sanrenmu on BladeForums and you might as well have posted a Swastika or something. Not only will the troll squad come out in force, they’ll never forget you. They still snipe at me as a “clone defender” just for calling out their rabidly self-righteous and totally misguided activism.

I was under the impression that Petrified Fish had actually made those knives. That would certainly explain the quality. Petrified Fish was not well-known back then, at least outside of China. They mostly seemed to be using 8Cr13Mov and AUS-8 in their own stuff at the time. They were probably doing OEM work and the rebranders were just stamping whatever they thought would sell on the blades.

Might very well have been. Tbh, all I knew about those knives that they looked nice, someone commented that they’re good, so got 1-2 to try. After getting ’em, and seeing they were pretty much at the same price, yeah, I’d be getting more.

Really nice knives, great smooth action. I couldn’t tell blade material if you stabbed me with it, all I knew was that it was sharp.

My only grex about my EDC is that there’s slight blade wobble when closed. Fine and stiff (no wobble) when open. So there might be some adjustment to be done, but I’m not gonna screw with it.

yeah i got a few months ago a clone benchmade bugout from aliexpress for like 20 bucks or little more, it looks like the real thing box and all is more or less identic… guess just the steel is not what the real has but who cares for that price amazing lol…weird its allowed to sell that there so obvious clone …

Found an interesting chinese made higonokami : https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003336832868.html
