I included a link to the vendor’s store on Aliexpress in the other discussion: [post no. 8] Swiss+Tech Utili Key Tool Keyring Keychain Multifunction Stainless Steel [corrected link]
Yes thanks I saw it.
His newest ratings were not so great and sellers who do not actively click on a review can delay the actual placing by 30 days, I wait for at least that period to see if his ratings change.
I arrived today fast comparison with the G727, my biggest folder so far.
Love the look, much more style then the Ganzo with the wood.
The blade is bigger then the G727
The blade shape of the EL01 is more pointy, the Ganzo seems better for more heavy work
Nice feel they tie here.
The locking, I prefer the G727 locking
Opening, prefer the G727 with its thumbstuds.
Closing, because of the bulge below the cutting edge it is safe but I prefer the G727 again.
I teach my son not to flick the kbifes open but the only way to open the EL01 with one hand is a firm flick of the wrist. So I keep on EDCing the Ganzo.
The opening action will get smoother once you oil the pivot, play with it for a while and in time.
A lot of people replace the pivot washers with phosphor bronze washers and get very smooth and fast action from the flipper.
I did buy the washers but didn’t replace them yet. Mine now deploys without flicking the wrist.
I have to say that at first, I was not found of flippers, like you, I did prefer the thumb studs. I have learned to appreciate them and I have to say that now, it is my preferred opening system on a knife when it works properly (and on the EL01, it will).
Anyway, overall, much like the G727, I think that the EL01 is a great knife and pretty hard to beat at that price. I hope you’ll get to enjoy it.
Yes it is, thank you very much
But the problem is the price…53$ for a copy are a little to much. For less you can buy a Mtech 151 bowie that is the same knife, and youtube is full of videos, a very good & strong quality copy/clone. His price? around 12-15$ in USA, 30euro in UK (not find in Italy grrrrr).
So for me 53$ is simple too much for a copycat…
But thank you very much again for your investigation on GHgate! <:-)
I was not able to find it…shame on me :–5
Aliexpress must have an agreement with Adobe to force the sellers to practise their photoshop skills.
After the 1st task (removing all brand logos) here is the 2nd one about photoshoping the locking system on all of their folders! :–5
Vendors are not allowed to sell folding knives with a lock on AE anymore, that’s why so many knives are disappearing. Many stores moved over to DHgate because of that.
It seems that one of the most sympathic differences between the BLF and our german TLF is the fact that here is a place where talking about knifes is allowed and even wanted. I wouldn’t call myself a knife colletor, but still can’t deny of being attracted by the blade stuff. And of course I wouldn’t own some of these blades that I recently got, without starting to read some of the recommendable helpful threads, which are here to find.
So thank’s for that, and welcome to MACS little blade revue.
The first blades I like to show is a kind of (semi) vintage material I inherit from my grandfather,
!!
!!
a JA. Henkels Zwilling Friodur 70 1/2 SS razor knife from the early nineteen fifties (1953/54) and a Martinii 14 cm fixed blade hunting knife, which my grandfather bought around 1960/61 while he was working in Lappeenranta Finland.
!!
My grandfathers Oak wood handled “no name” gardeners knife, also from the early fifties, and my meanwhile 36 years old, still regulary used and far from getting retired, Opinel No.7. The first little folding knife I bought for myself on a holiday time at France in 1980. At these times the price for the Opinel was 13,00 Fr. (ca. 2,50 €).

Ganzo G717 - bladelength 8,5 cm - 440c , Ganzo G728-OR - bladelength 8,8 cm - 440c assisted opening
My legal carry two hand opening EDC pocket knifes (together with the Sanrenmu 9055).
Two lovely back lockers from Spain and a little french beauty…

Joker NO37 - bladelength 6,5 cm - 440c steel - Back Lock - Olive root wood - Martinez Albainox - NO 10828 - bladelength 8,0 cm - 440 steel - Back Lock - Olivewood - Laguiole style , Le Thiers Coutellerie Roger Orfevre - bladelength 7,0 cm - 12C27 Sandvik steel - Juniper wood. Due to their small size and also light weight, especially the Joker NO37 and the Le Thiers are a really good match for at least every pocket.
Of course one decent Spring Lock knife shouldn’t be missed,
!!
!!
which in my case is a Böker Plus Strike Spearpoint — bladelength 8.5 cm - Aus-8 steel.
And the same thing counts for a dedicated Flipper,

To me, the Real Steel H5 Gerfalcon with its smooth working ball bearing 8.3 cm 14C28N blade, is the perfect knife for playing and “flipping” around.
So these are the diffrent types of blades which find their way home, and I really love every inch of them, so that this little story could easily come to an end at this point -, BUT concerning the knife theme, at least there had been two key issues left open, that had to be done, because time is running and you only live once.
The thing is, I promised to myself, that there is no damned way to peg out without having a knife from the Böker manufactory here in Solingen and also not without having one of these unique elegant Laguiole knifes, comming from this little region in the center of France with a highly recommandet long time tradition of producing knives.
Just wanted a small and simpel one, with some nice wooden handling material, the ressort should have some decorative filework and the bee/fly should be forged (not welded !!) in one peace with the ressort.
And of course I don’t wanted to pay more for this little pleasure, than what is necessary to pay.
So, after doing some decent research and kinds of private investigations here is the stuff that I got.

A Böker Arctos XL - design by Jens Ansø - bladelength 9,0 cm - N690 steel - Titanium platines - Liner Lock - Canvas Micarta for the handle material, build like a tank, sold by Amazon for very acceptable 112 Euros, which is a bit less than the half of the formerly listed origin price.
For the question how to get a nice Laguiole knife, which is quite affordable, it turned out that it is by far the best solution to contact one of the recommanded coutelleries, that are offering their knife making services directly online, which has the advantage that you don’t have to pay the average markups from the lokal dealers.
The coutellerie I finaly choosed is named Laguiole du Barry, which moreless seems to be a kind of one man companie by Mr. Antoine Monteiro. http://www.coutelleriedubarry.com/
The knife I ordered from Mr. Monteiro in February was a model with size of 10 cm, bladelength 8 cm, two stainless steel bolsters, simple platines with the ressort filework catalogue Nr.6, for the handle material my choice was Thuya wood.
The price for this configuration of the Laguiole du Barry knife was about 72,00 €, plus 12,00 € for the shipment from France to Germany, and three
weeks later I got the result of Mr. Monteiros work.
