All the surfaces where these pin type bearings ride look flat to me. That would indicate non tapered bearings. I hope....
I really like the way it is designed.
You could however design it the other way with conventional tapered bearings and races. I think that building it that way though is not necessary because there is not much load on the axis point while the blade is opening or closing.

Agreed on all points. Kind of a shame though because they could probably get better performance at less than a quarter of the cost for ball bearing washers.
Of course by budget H1 I meant around $30-$40 But unfortunately it doesn’t look like there is an alternative to Spyderco H1 at any price range. I guess I’ll just get one of the Spyderco ones (although I don’t particularly like the look of any of their larger H1 knives).
I'm intrigued by the pivoting joint. I don't know if I like it that much. Tension controlled by a little o-ring? I don't know what they were thinking....
I am a big fan of Chinese budget knives (and lights). Appreciate all the great information.
Wanted to let you all know that as of this AM, Gearbest has the Enlan EL01 on sale.
The plain edge EL-01A and serrated AB version for $10.81
The rosewood C version for $13.15
(But the black B version is unchanged at $12 and change.)
Good chance for fence-sitters to stock up.
Or for me to get MOAR
…Which of course I did
Yep, that’s exactly what happened, so i just placed separate order for the EL01B.
Only downside was it limited me to the slower free shipping. option. Not that it is ever very quick…
Any scuttlebutt on why the Inron MY803 has been unavailable for the past few months?
Running out of one’s most popular product for extended period wouldn’t seem like an effective business strategy. Anyone know if they still in operation? I was meaning to get one and then they dried up.
