I do have an Opus (3400 which is the same as the 3100 v2). The discharge cuts off at 2.8V which doesnt do much when I’m testing for capacity on a primary lithium cell. A primary lithium will drop to that level after a VERY short period of time. The discharge is modeled for a Lithium Ion which makes sense.
Unless I’m mistaken, there is no way to set continuous discharge to obtain full capacity.
Got a coupon code from Vipon for the 16 and 20 count and think I spent less than $10 with the 10% off coupon. Got them and I don’t even have a dedicated cr123 light. Might sell them to my boss since he has a couple of Surefire lights that take them.
I have a RC hobby charger, if anyone could tell me a reasonable or industry standard for current and cutoff voltage I am willing to test one to know the true capacity…
It’s rated at 1,450mAh and .5a discharge rate is about .3c will be good enough, as to cut-off voltage I would personally choose 2.8v since a lot of members has the Opus and it cuts off at 2.8v too, that way there can be a bit of ‘standardization’, so to speak.
I am curious to know too, since I also ordered a pack of 20.
I am thinking a 500 ma discharge and a cutoff at 1.8v as he did, I am scheduled to receive them tomorrow, will test 1 and see how it goes, hopefully it will be a good battery
I busted out my hobby charger. Didnt think of that route earlier until someone mentioned it.
I ran one through at 500ma. A bit off of the 1450mah spec’d for the batteries if you consider working voltage — but to 0 it meets expectations. I expected it to be less… For the price and my expected application, I’m good with it.
Just got my 20 today. Do Not use these in anything that will drain more than 500mAh. Tried one in my Clone OTR M3 build with Fet+1 ramping IOS. Cell only pulled 800mAh and dropped FAST, blinked to LVP in a few seconds. Cell continued getting warmer for a minute after it was out of flashlight. Not good.
Bad part is I don’t have anything to use them in that is low drain.
I was holding it in my hand after the current draw test in my light. Its cold here so my hands are NOT 98.6*F… Just didn’t feel like my hands were helping it to cool at all. After about 30+ seconds, and no cooling at all, I put it into a metal dish.
Interestingly enough… I noticed the Wuben e05 had a 12.00 coupon on amazon. Apparently I also had an old Vipon coupon for that item in my cart (I must have added it and never completed the checkout). I went to checkout now and it applied both coupons. It was like 4.00 out the door. Kind of hard to say no at that price.
