Mmm, noice, but I was looking more for the remote switches than power-strips.
No particular rush to get anything, but if I see something on sale…

I have a couple of remote switches.
In general, they take different types of batteries.
Be sure that you like the battery type that the remote switch uses.
I had one of those teeny 12V batteries for my alarm remote back in the medieval era, and it was an ancient C-Zn battery. Lasted almost a decade of daily chirping.
Rat Shack discontinued the C-Zn ones and the only choice was alkaleak. Damned things rarely lasted a year, two at the most. And that included when I took pubtrans to/from work each day, and only used the car on weekends if I went anywhere. So just sitting around they’d degrade to nothing.
And let’s not forget that even Ag2O cells can explode. Yeah, I saw and heard that in person.
The button cell for my calipers started puffing up, so I took it out of the calipers (door wouldn’t fit on it with the cell in the holder!) and kept it in the plastic tray the calipers came with. Never paid it no nevermind until one night I heard what sounded like a firecracker going off only a few feet away from me, and something that blew up into the air landed a second or two later. I go hunt down what it was, don’t recall if I found it, but when I started putting 2+2 together, I looked for the calipers, and sho’nuff, the remnant of the cell was in the tray, and the back was blown off and through the plastic. Looked like a teeny little jar that the lid blew off of.
Well, that was… interesting.
So… whaddya gonna do.
Solar Charger 30W, USB QC 3.0 and Type-C
$14.99 after code and coupon 50N4AT8H Amazon.com
I see the code reduce it from 50 to 25? Any ideas how is this? I’ve never owned a portable solar panel. Is 30w kind of junk?
ACEBEAM TAC AA is down to $20 using discount on page (ACETAC20 ).
I’ve been looking for a $30 or less jump starter deal after my 7 year old starter stopped working.
Found this for $23.99 after the coupon code and product page coupon.
30W doesn’t indicate quality or junk status. It’s just the power rating. Based on the dimensions, the solar cells appear large enough to generate that much or slightly more.
The top review has good detail, and found they weren’t able to get more than 18W out of it. Honestly, for $25, 18W output sounds pretty good, even if it’s not as much as spec’d.
I have a hunch there is some quirk of USB power profiles affecting the performance, and actually wonder if the USB-A and USB-C ports are separated, such that perhaps it can provide the levels he measured from each simultaneously, for 28W total, but not that much to any single device.
I’ve been passively looking for a dock since I missed a great deal on a few months back.
Lenovo USB-C Mini Dock, 7-in-1 Portable Dock with HDMI, VGA, USB-C, USB 3.1, USB 2, 3.5mm Audio, Ethernet, 45W Charging, Compatible with Lenovo, Apple & USB-C Laptops, G0A70065US Amazon.com
I was looking to buy another jumper. I have 2; 14000mah and 20000mah models. The one linked above is listed at 16000mah. Lately the battery is mysteriously draining on our van, goes from full to won’t start overnight. Monitored with a battery tester. The 14000mah model is good for 1 jump if battery not completely drained. If doesn’t start after one try then jumper is too depleted to try again. The 20000mah model may be good for 2, possibly 3 jumps under the same condition. I’ve just ordered this 26800mah model at 50% off for $35:
well, i am a sucker for solar power.
ordered one of the aforementioned panels.
with all the discounts: $9.31.
What other discounts? The code that koss posted took it form $49.99 to $24.99 for me (although only after I removed it from my cart, then added it and started the checkout process again).
I don’t see a way to get it to $14.99 like koss reported, much less $9.31.
I think that’s an old version that only supports single display. Then the vga port is pretty useless these days. This Lenovo USB-C Dual Display Travel Dock without Adapter is on sale now and is 60 cents cheaper.
Then they have this Lenovo USB-C Dual Display Travel Dock with Adapter that comes with a 100W usbc charger for an extra $27.20
Those are good observations. I typically use a single monitor with my laptop.
If I get the dock without the power adapter, I would think the 65W power adapter that came with my ThinkPad would be sufficient, right?
The short answer is yes. However, since the dock requires power, you will not get 100% pass thru on the power. Therefore depending on the laptop power requirement, it can become slow charge or power only (no charging) state.
If you don’t need dual display, the new single display version takes out the vga but adds SD card slot and thinner profile, at even less money (currently on sale for $44). Lenovo USB-C Slim Travel Dock
Yeah the code brings it down to ~ $28 for me as of a few minutes ago… A $25 credit/
This down to $19.99 for just over a half hour.

Did anyone get one of these? Thoughts? They are at ~$25 now. I am on the fence…
