BIGWOOD:
oh SNAP!
I think I threw up a little reading your post.
Sorry about your “shitty” day.
On Sunday, my <4 year old Samsung fridge gave out. Cap-put! My wife & I spent a few hours calling friends/family to see if they had room in their fridge/freezers. To make matters worse, I have about 100lbs of frozen raw food for the dog that I buy every 6-7 weeks.
The appliance repair guy for Samsung told me that it’s not worth fixing ($400 –500 cost) and can’t guarantee if it’ll give out next week, next month, or next year. He also said that new fridges have an average 4 to 6 year life span. WTF!
The facts were confirmed by my neighbour that owns an appliance repair shop. They sure don’t make them the way they used to. They both said to stay away from Samsung, LG, & Bosch as they see them everyday. Also not to buy fridges with high-tech gadgets (LCD screens, water/ice dispensors, etc = more crap to break). Advice was to buy simple, domestic brands. Why, because repairs are cheaper and they’ll break down anyways.
Well that’s $1200 I didn’t want to spend on a stupid fridge.
Wow, thanks for sharing. That really makes things seem not so bad for the rest of us. The part about getting in your bear was pretty visual.
I’m curious which Samsung you had. I have this one and it’s been basically flawless but, again only 18 months old.
Now I did purchase a 5 yr warranty, but that’s not going to mean much in 5 yrs and 1 day.

A friend of mine has a ’fridge that his parents bought in the 1940’s… uses ammonia as the coolant. Been running pretty much non-stop for 70+ years.

Not literally crappy, but last night the buyer’s inspector flooded our Mother-in-law’s vacant house and then asked for a $10,000 price reduction the day they figured out what had been done. It is kinda smelly, but not quite the same as that OP.

That looks like a nice fancy one. Mine is the bottom freezer style.

I hope you encounter no issues with yours.

I just had the idea to empty the other tank at the Homedepot by my work and then send the employees on a quest to find me a Defiant 3c light!Does this make me a flushaholic too?
Do you remember that fortune cookie? The one that said, “Soon you will be flushed with happiness.”
