Apple CEO says China isn't cheap... it's skilled.

What I’ve gathered is that most of the Chinese engineers that design products for small markets like flashlights are not passionate about what they design and most never even use the products they design. To them it’s just an underpaying job that they have to complete to earn a salary. On the other hand, BLFers are highly passionate about flashlights and we actually use them and love them and are willing to devote our personal time into researching/tinkering and even developing ideas for new products. However, Chinese engineers in the cutting edge sectors like smartphones are well paid, and pretty passionate about what they do. Hence you see things like a triple rear camera (first in the industry) that scores even higher than Samsung and Google phones in the photo department. But in general, I think the most optimal scenario would be for a product to be designed in the US by passionate engineers/designers and manufactured in China for their expertise (e.g., Apple). However, I’m pretty sure the factories that make flashlights are very low tier budget facilities given how small the market is and low priced the flashlights are so we would have to be careful who we select for manufacturing. The saying “you get what you pay for” applies even in China.

Apple hires the brightest engineering minds in the industry that demand salaries equal their worth. Soft cost like R&D and Q/A for tech products are much more than many people think. Although I’m an Android guy and owned multiple Samsung flagships, I have to admit the few Apple products I have are generally more reliable and refined; so for non tech geeks, I can understand why they would prefer Apple products.

Good point Lightbringer!

Just watch some of Louis Rossmanns videos and you will bow out from that. They make stupid desicions and get away with it, because the customer blames themselves instead of Apple.
Just their latest keyboard-failure - that is not a problem that occurs for 0.1% of the customers after 5 years, that is a problem that appears from the beginning on a lot of machines, yet apple shipped them out. QC? Prety much nonexistent.
Also this keyboard hurts the fingers if you type, because the travel is so super low and you basically just type on a touchscreen with a tiny bit of tactical feedback.

Backlight fuses are useless parts in - as far as I know - all Apple Laptops because they never blow - that is a problem that a company that is 2 Months on the market can have, but not the biggest player on the planet.

Not all CF was overseas…. My Rize one carbon bears the MUSA sticker , as do my other Cdales…?
There is know- how there, but there are also low wages and not NEARLY the governmental quagmire in manufacturing regulations we have here….

Lol. Have you seen the one “Can Louis beat the Apple Genius Bar while wasted off Jagermeister?”

This is why I only buy mid-range Mac Mini’s since 2006. I’ve never had a problem with any of them.
