Wouldn’t it be easier to just ask Banggood for a retaining ring? Maybe they’ll ship you one if that’s all you ask them for. You can also just solder the driver to the pill or put some solder on the driver ring so that it makes contact with the pill when press fitted into it.
That would be my preference rather than spending time on this.
Asking Banggood anything seems an exercise in futility. I got an offer above for a proper retaining ring. If Banggood continues to give me the run around I will be reaching out to the kind person who offered to send me the proper ring.
…and then go for a cc chargeback, pp dispute, whatever. That might get their attention. 
If it were me that’s what I would do. And soldering the driver to the pill only takes a few minutes. Not sure if it’s still the case but in the past Convoy S series lights with chips on the spring side were soldered to the pill.

I would prefer to have the proper ring but if all else fails I may be asking for directions on how to best solder it in. I am well adept at soldering I have no problem with that I just prefer to have it original.
For temporary, try mashing up a small amount of bare wire on each side of the driver to fill the gap and see if it will press fit this way.
Just so you can use the thing till your ring gets to you.
As far as the stupid video they made you make, it will be perfect for proving to Paypal that the flashlight they sent you does not work and is missing parts 
No sense in getting worked up over their stupidity, it is just a delay tactic that the Chinaman uses.
Go right at them where they live, (The Money) tell them they 2 choices, replace or refund. No more videos, emails, etc.
You will get a response.

Keeping the dud. Thats been my experience, and a well tuned run around from the sellers.
It sounds to me like whoever is getting the report of the issue is trying to put you off saying send pics, send videos, wear a batman costume while holding flashlight etc.
Be persistent you are in the right here. if they still fail just try a paypal or CC refund. Im sorry you are having these issues.

If it was me I would just avoid all this aggravation and fix the issue myself. As I mentioned before you can solder the driver to the pill. Or if you don’t want to do that then push some thin wires through a few of the holes in the driver, solder them to the board, and then trim them so that you get a good press-fit to the pill.
You don’t even have to solder the wires but I usually do that to make sure they don’t break when I push the driver into the pill and to insure that I get a good electrical connection.
Either option will take 15 minutes or less and will save hours of back-and-forth work to get a driver ring.
