So what would be the best way to troubleshoot this thing? Shame it has these issues, I love it when it works right!
This light was for my wifes purse for everyday use and to serve as a faceblaster if need be. I need something bright, simple (single mode, clicky) and *Reliable. Now I am thinking maybe an UF C3? Not sure….
Think the switch might be the cause. I bridged as you pictured and it lights right up. Full power, no flickers.
So now the question is should I tinker and try to fix or just replace?
Emailed DX but no response yet. How are they for returns?
Good idea! I will see about obtaining a replacement switch. That would be better than return.
Cleaned the switch twice. Didnt see much grime come out of it, but it seems to be working now that’s all that matters.
Seemed like the top retaining washer might have been a tiny bit (a couple mm) loose. That could explain the severe hotspot near the switch. If that was it all along I just have to laugh.
Used it (flicker free!) a good bit last night. What a great little light. Even the single mode is great. Gets a bit warm but not bad. Fantastic throw and beam for its size. Love it.
Might have to keep this one and get something else for the wifes purse (UF C3?).

The reflector on this thing is killer. I imagine upgrades could be pretty badass. I’d love a slightly warmer tint.
That looks awesome with the XM-L U2. I might even be good with a T6.

Looks like this thing could be fun to mod, even if selection is a bit limited. 8)
edit: nevermind… found it: Efest IMR - anyone tried them?
