Thanks for the reply. Which video is the W1, I can only see a video for the D4s?
In regards to my assumptions about needed brightness and buying the wrong flashlight I concede that you are correct. I didn’t realise that flashlights had become so technical, and had the potential to easily be turned on accidentally and in hindsight had I have known this I would have bought a light with autolock from the outset.
The more I look into the Seeker 3 the more appealing it sounds as not only does it have a lockout it also has a proximity sensor, therefore it’s like a double safety mechanism. In the highly unlikely event it gets accidentally activated in the pocket, the proximity sensor should (in theory) prevent it from being bright enough to cause burns.
With regards to my wife’s Astrolux I have set the memory so that it comes on at approximately 800-1000 lumens (judging it against another light with set levels) yet it still managed to burn the pocket. I dread to think the damage Turbo mode could make. You live and learn.
Also, thanks for all the other responses too, much appreciated. I have read and taken heed of them all.
here is the part of the video that shows the W1 LEDs:
they are small and throwy, and are installed in 2 of the 4 LED positions of the D4S flashlight
I do think the seeker sounds like a keeper… LOL

Good Job! So whatever setting you chose, seems almost safe. If you also set manual memory to a lower level, maybe just enough to see the ground at your feet… which would be less than 100 lumens, then the light will have even less opportunity to create a hot pocket.
definitely dont take it as personal criticism that you bought a powerful light with the best intentions to help your wife…
consider it a seminar fee, in which you have learned a great deal about modern hotrod flashlights
I look forward to your next adventures in LED Lighting
it is a worthy cause, and youre doing it with a great attitude
carry on…
If we will quick buying these stupid non-recessed side switch toys (and thereby demand that manufqacturers quick making them), we won’t need these crazy and troublesome lockout features. I’ve quick reviewing or buying them.
