Got it thanks :+1::battery::flashlight::white_check_mark:

I ordered ten Samsung 50S cells from 18650batterystore.
I only received eight.
So I emailed them, and they ignored me.
About 48 hours later, I emailed them again, stating that I would be contacting PayPal soon if they didn’t reply.
They quickly replied, and gave me a 20% refund, which is only fair.
It’s a shame that I had to threaten to contact PayPal to get a response, but that’s apparently what had to be done.

Oh, I almost forgot…
The 21700 cells came with a free, but terrible, 18650 tube flashlight that weighs almost nothing.
It’s modes are High, Medium, Low, Strobe, SOS, with next mode memory, and the flashlight is not very bright. :face_vomiting:

They were over 2.5 V hopefully?

FINALLY got into my storage room and put in a new battery ordered last month.
WORKS :+1::smiley: GREAT

We’re having a -5°farenheight ice storm with 38mph winds.
POWER is out for 150,000 people, me included.
Started Saturday and just got back online today.
Trees down everywhere. People dying, motels booked out, a real mess.
Got a chance to use a Craftsman 20volt work light & I like it. Runs a long time.
Can’t find any 21700 work lights.
Know of any? If not I’m ordering a couple of these 20 volt lights.

How do I know what driver it has?

How do I know what driver is in it?

WOW… We just went through a stretch where it did not go above 0F for almost 5 days. Lows of -20F. Windy too. I was trying to think of ways I might stay warm if power went out. How did you cope?

We got close to that and after 3 days, I decided to go to a motel in the morning, if any available…then the power came on.
3 of the 4 buildings had sprinklers blow up and soaked the people.
At my age of the mid seventies, this is hard to do.
#1 is to have a good -25° GOOSE DOWN
sleeping bag and a pile of wool blankets!
Fresh water available and a handful of torches and charged up batteries.
The 20 volt trouble light from DeWalt is also good to have.
Forget cooking, but have a dual fuel stove and bottles on hand.
PROPANE WILL KILL YOU INDOORS,
so remember that.
Too cold to open windows.
Good gloves, good wool beanie, good merino ski socks, good sweats, down jacket, all of it, or, :coffin:
:cold_face::+1:

I know they’re not mentioned as much because they’re a Chinese cell but the Lishen 9.6a cell is a good one. I believe sofirn and wurkkos use these. Same as littokala. Probably some others. It’s a 5000 mah cell and mooch tested it to excellent results

Just got a new CONVOY L21A, SFT40 -8AMP- from Amazon & wondering if you like any new batteries for the torch?
I like to use it on TURBO mode💪
BTW,., should I be using button top or flat top?
Protection circuits or non protection?

Hi friends,

I hope you don’t mind me replying to this old thread.

If you don’t mind me asking. Do you guys still stand for these online stores?
I’m a newcomer to the flashlight world. I have been looking for places to purchase batteries online and it looks a little triky to know where to buy. (From Europe BTW)

I have read pretty bad reviews for 18650BatteryStore (but that can mean nothing, some reviews are sometimes from customers that can’t be satisfied)

Can anyone give advice about www.nkon.nl? They seem to have good reviews and an attitude (a good one, that is).

So sorry if this is a little off topic. The thread seems to have ended some time ago and I could find no specific thread for this topic that wasn’t old.

Thanks a lot everyone. Have a nice new year’s eve and a happy 2025.
Regards.

I have only possitive experiences with Nkon. Because of this forum I became aware of them and that a lot of people on this forum have positive experiences with them. I’ve ordered multiple times a year, over the past 2-3 years, and always everything went well.

All original cells, arriving at good/safe voltages and packaged well. Haven’t had to deal with customer services in terms of warranty so far, but I have had contact via e-mail several times and they always answered quickly.

What I also really like is their sharp prices: in general it is really hard to find for me (in the Netherlands), to find better prices, certainly if you only need a couple of cells. Shipping prices are also fair, but given that they are located in the same country as me, it is difficult to judge if that also is the case for people in different (European) countries.

3 Thanks

I also have only positive experiences with NKON.NL. I just received a batch of unprotected 21700 cells very cheaply:

To get cells with high capacity, just move the slider “Typ. capacity - mAh” to the right, e.g. to 5000mAh.

I bought with Samsung INR21700-50G (cheaper) and LG INR21700-M58T (higher capacity), both with clear wrap (“reclaimed” from an automobile project).
You can disregard the bad review for the LG cell, the reviewer is kind of clueless…

You can find / compare cells in this table - the headers can be used to filter (e.g. by size - 21700) and sort (e.g. by energy - mWh @10A):
https://lygte-info.dk/info/batteryIndex.html
This page allows a 1-on-1 comparison (the LG M58T wasn’t tested yet):
https://lygte-info.dk/review/batteries2012/Common18650comparator.php
Another comparison table, from Mooch:

The Samsung cell is in the top ten for 3A and 10A discharge:
https://lygte-info.dk/review/batteries2012/Samsung%20INR21700-50G%205000mAh%20(Green)%20UK.html
The LG cell was discussed here in BLF:

DON’T by the cells WITHOUT wrap if you won’t wrap them yourself - the outside is not electrically isolated, and you could
easily short-circuit the battery, which would be a real problem with this battery size (both total energy and max. current).

If you want a protected cell, the Sofirn 21700 5000mAh are nice - I bought some directly from Sofirn. A test:
https://lygte-info.dk/review/batteries2012/Sofirn%2021700%205000mAh%20(Black)%20UK.html

Here you can read reviews of chargers:
https://lygte-info.dk/info/roundCellChargerIndex%20UK.html

I bought several Xtar SC2 chargers, because they are both cheap and fast (1x 3A or 2x 2A). A review:
https://lygte-info.dk/review/Review%20Charger%20Xtar%20SC2%20UK.html
I could also buy them at NKON.NL, but now they are out of stock:

If you get the Xtar SC2, you need a USB charger with 12V PD (PowerDelivery) - otherwise it will charge with 1x 2A and 2x 1A.
Unfortunately, the 12V option was made “volontary” in later versions for USB charger standards, so some chargers support it, some don’t.
I bought the XTAR PD20W, which supports 12V:

If you are ordering a flashlight from convoy, Simons Eve 50E are cheap and really solid cells for lower power lights. Ordering just batteries from convoy is not worth it, too much surcharge to ship.
